Was it ever revealed whether it was structurally able to be saved or being torn down?

Update on the RWB residence:

I really like how it is the sameish size as the Marie Rose place - makes this stretch seem more interesting.

What are those decorative elements near the front door? From a distance it looks kind of like Mayan stone carvings-neat!

I think that it is the final layer of insulation that is to be covered with grey stucco. The black "carvings" are the manufacturers logo.

I noticed work has started on NEWPCC. The consortium had their signs up on the fencing. Looks like site access roadwork up to Main and Chief, and other prep.

One last time...

In June last year there was an encampment on Manitoba Metis Federation's front lawn.

They wanted them out.

CSWs (Community Social Workers) descended upon the camp to offer housing for all of them. Two women took them up on the offer. The rest weren't interested. The meth was just too compelling. And that, is the problem.

Anyone hear any updates on the proposed development at the old Canada Bread factory site on Burnell St?

I will ask once more, in case someone knows?
What will become of the shuttered BW PLUS Charterhouse Hotel? Their site has said BG NEWS stay tuned for months!
There has been rumours of an entire new build on the site.It was just renovated.

The sale of The Marlborough Hotel...Any news?
With both old & newer 50's section there was once 428 rooms...they had kept it at 148 rooms in the newer section for years with the older section as fashion mall/offices...
This being redeveloped could be a major win for that stretch. The less than desirable persons graciously allowed to harass passersby, hotel guests and sometimes go to the bar will have moved on elsewhere.
Does anyone know what the plan is?
I am envisioning one section , likely the 50's one as refurbished hotel rooms & the older section as condos? Turning it all residential they would love the revenues on so many magnificent ballroom rentals and us citizens would lose the opportunity of seeing them and the beautiful cafe, dining room etc.I hope it would be like what they did in Montreal at the Ritz Carlton, in terms of part residential/part hotel.

The COVID round of Reaching Home funding was used locally on several projects. There was a conversion of a hotel in housing on Sargent and a new shelter built on Disreali to name a couple. It was administered by End Homelessness Winnipeg.

Does anyone know anything about what kind of commercial activity is being conducted in there? I have never heard of any businesses operating out of the Marlborough's so-called fashion mall, nor am I aware of anyone who has ever been in there to patronize any of them. I am becoming increasingly convinced that the entire old wing of the Marlborough between the lobby and ballroom levels is totally vacant...

The MLA for Union Station (Uzoma Asagwara) has her office there on the main floor.

Yes, but I'm talking about the levels between the main floor (lobby level) and the top (ballroom level). In other words, where the hotel rooms once were.

By now it might be vacant.
The Fashion Mall was not for public to purchase but fashion importers or agents for designers.
Many of those agents have moved on to Broadway Mall in Fort Garry Place on the 2nd level.
