Wow, I was just planning to ask one of my contacts if there was any update on this slow moving project. Tutor Perrini is also doing the East Market project- I believe they absorbed one of the Keatings- I think Keating Building Corp- the one from Bala Cynwyd. Consideriing this project is using $33M in public funds I'm sure there will be a big ground breaking ceremony.

Great news! This will be a great addition to the skyline and it will be cool to watch it rise!

For what it's worth, late last night I received a response to my email inquiry to Parkway Corp.:

Quote:
The lot at 15th & Chestnut has been closed and tentatively will reopen in 3 weeks. Please feel free to contact us in that timeframe just to ensure the lot has reopened.
I emailed back a request for verification, citing the new fencing and signage at the lot, and I took the liberty of attaching MikeNigh's photo. Hopefully, they'll spread the word within the company that the lot will NOT be reopening.

Awesome! So does the part of the sign that looks like a document (between the PROJECT ADDRESS and the image) give any details like height and floor count?

I'm wondering if any of that has changed since Lenfest last said he was working on something that could add a few floors to the project but that the tower would definitely be at least 550 feet...

Wow. It's finally happening. Unbelievably great for this city.

I'm glad I was wrong when I questioned (with unnecesssary snark) the capability of the developer to get this site done a year or so.

This and the East Market site are the most prominent sites dead smack in the heart of the city and their development really mark a new phase in the evolution of Philly in my mind.

I still won't believe it until it's half way up.

The redesign took this to 582'.

That is hilarious.

I remember the “JV Team” comment being a nice touch!

Look at it this way, your comments caused Lenfest himself to join the forum and then he decided to share his preliminary redesign concept directly which us first. How cool was that? Weird too.

This is going to be a fun couple of years with the CITC/FMC race and now the W/SLS race. Not to mention 4 buildings that will redifine our skyline.

Is this design as unique as I think it is? Has anyone seen a completed tower anywhere in the world with a crown that looks anything like this? I'm hoping when anyone sees this, they will instantly associate it with Philly.

Just as long as they put everything back where they found it so the parking lot can reopen in three weeks.
