Does anyone have a guess of the tower crane activity downtown?

I counted 35 last week, but that was inside and outside of downtown. I was up on the UT garage on MLK and could see cranes at the Domain and way into East Austin, and South Austin. Yesterday, I noticed another one, so 36 is my count, but there were at least 10 or more that I couldn't see at the Tesla site in East Austin. My guess is there's probably about 70 or so cranes in Austin.

Questions: with lots of downtowns still boarded up shells, what’s it like on the ground in Austin.

I was downtown yesterday and it was pretty lively, lots of people out and about.

The only area that I have seen downtown with a decent amount of boarded-up first levels are several bars along Dirty Sixth Street.

As previously mentioned, the rest of downtown is quite normal - albeit with less vehicular traffic. However, that is starting to come back.

I will note that I-35 and MoPac (through downtown) are both approaching pre-COVID traffic levels during rush hour.

Yeah, I did, too. I went up to Saint Ed's first for that view, then rode the boardwalk over to the Longhorn Dam. The boardwalk and trail were packed with people riding bikes, jogging with the kids and dogs. I put my mask on for the ride because there were so many. And up and down South Congress there were people all over the place. They had those venders set up, too, and the restaurants were buzzing. It was a beautiful day yesterday. It almost felt normal.

COVID-19 Airline Recovery Update:

Delta Air Lines has dropped all Focus City airports except for Austin (AUS) and Raleigh-Durham (RDU). This bodes well for these airports.
