A few pages back someone mentioned that it was going to be restored then used as a storage facility for homeless people's belongings.
I think there was an article on it, too.

Some small updates from yesterday.

The lot next to the spot at Nelson and Seymour (Olympic Irish house?):

Some rebar sticking up at the corner of Granville and Nelson:

I heard it was going to be converted into an Art Gallery or something like that. I do believe there are long term plans for this building.

that would be much more fitting. The area has tons of potential. The greenway is really going to revive the area. Very exciting to watch an area, especially one like the DTES, in transition.

The second strip of the Royal Bank Tower wrap is finally going up. At this rate there'll only be one or two wraps in the whole City before February!

Who's the dimwit that thought that removing the left turn lanes on Pacific and putting a sidewalk down the middle of the street was a good idea? Seriously, I've yet to see one person on that sidewalk in the middle.

I agree. I live down there and I've never seen anyone use that silly sidewalk. It would be funny if we hadn't lost a left turn lane because of it.

Left turn lanes belong in the suburbs, with drive-thrus, strip malls, free parking, i.e. a car oriented environment.

Downtown is the one tiny fraction of the city where it's comfortable walking around rather than driving. Left turn lanes make the pedestrian crossing longer and more uncomfortable.

Thank you for the pic

Indeed, it is a bit strange. And right now, with freshly ploughed earth all over it, it's all muddy and all the less appealing. Oh well, people may take to it, or they may not. We're not the only city to try kooky things. But down the middle of a busy boulevard? ...... it IS a bit strange.....

Thanks again for posting the pic, smooth
