Its not a bad design imo, its just....repetitively pedestrian. Its basically a same 'ol. But...
its needed height in that section on dt. I assume that most of the attention to detail lies within.

I've learned to withhold judgment until a building is finished. While the facade treatment is still happening, but the tower is topped out, they tend to be very unsightly with all the mixed materials going on at different times. Sure, this isn't groundbreaking in its form, but it's a dense site in the middle of downtown with a tiny footprint.

If I'm remembering incorrectly I apologize, but I seem to recall a proposed residential building on a sea of asphalt just east of Cambridge Tower which MichaelB opposed quite a few years ago.

I can not fathom an urbanist holding such a position, under any circumstances.

This is the best way to do filler: handsomely restrained and inoffensive. The glass looks good, it isn't just a flat curtain wall, the painted concrete gives it texture and makes it pop. They didn't cheap out on anything, and they were able to do that by keeping things simple. A bit boring, but a good backdrop for the standout towers.

Otherwise, on filler like this, you end up with architects adding eclectic red stripes, or random shingle patterns, etc.

I just love the fact that a building of this height can be considered filler. That's how far we've come, which is pretty amazing. Heck, the 92 Red River proposal (likely to be approved soon-ish, it seems) is nearly twice the height of this one!

myBrain's assessment is very near to my own, well said!

At least SA has good roads. And I personally love the riverwalk. Might even like downtown SA better than Austin's from a destination standpoint. As far as shiny new buildings go. Well. Austin has an unfair advantage over many cities. I love the character and charm though of the Alamo city. Lived there probably 5 years. The new Frost tower in San Antonio turned out nice. Could've been another 10-20 stories but still nice!!

Definitely agreed on this point. San Antonio is great downtown for a lot of reasons.

San Antonio feels like a big city without needing to be a highrise mecca. Very walkable.

There's definitely a good amount of low/mid rise density in SA for sure. I think if it had a few 5-600 footers to contrast what's already there, it'd be in good shape.

Really great picture. Man that Hyatt Centric is crazy skinny almost didn't see it. I guess that's why they chose to use the white facade because thats the only reason I was able to see it

The reflection on Indeed Tower is great. At first I thought I was seeing 300 West Sixth until I realized it was the reflection of it.

Ooh, I like that inverted edge...

I'm getting a Seattle vibe from this one. It reminds me a bit of Two Union Square.

I know this one isn't high architecture, but it's nice and I can't complain. I also like how the horizontal white lines complement those on the Chase Tower. They almost look like part of the same development.

Not an awesome building, but at least it looks like it has a lot of floors because you can see them (as opposed to all glass).

Not an awesome building, not a bad one either. We've had real ugly buildings that no one complained about. I'm happy with this building.
