Will we ever see that nasty looking YMCA ever torn down and replaced? Maybe a new modern YMCA in the podium with a beautiful tower above?

The downtown YMCA won’t be torn down and not going to replaced but the Downtown YMCA is undergoing part of renovation which will see the new convert the aquatics office to a Universal Change Room it will have accessibility washroom and will include 10 new privacy stalls. In addition, a shower will be placed on deck and a new aquatics office area. Construction will be beginning on Nov 21 and it will be finished on February 1, 2024

I'm sure people who bought units at 75 James Condo which are on the 6th floor or higher and facing south are concerned about their future views now.

Pretty sure they shoulda factored that in before they moved there. I mean we've all been saying it should be rebuilt for years.

On the flipside, maybe people will be happy to see the Y moved and not have to live right next door

Yeah, but really - no matter what condo you buy and wherever the location - you should always look at the chance of something being built right in front of your view.

I'm sure they want to have their cake and eat it too.. ie. replace the Y with something small.

This was taken yesterday (NOT by me). I believe this might be from a forumer...but I dont know who. This image really illustrated the size of this project....part of me can't wait to see this in person in spring.

In any case, this is getting big!

I was driving down Main yesterday and it was down to one lane at Bay, probably due to a water main fix? Anyway, when stopped at the traffic light and looking to the right of 25 Main W. (BDC building) behind the steeple of St. Paul's, this is now appearing quite substantial. And it's still got a long way to go before being topped out.

I'll have to think about Hamilton properties, though there be many.

At the moment, some vibes about the Big O would help relieve bullchit in the Canada forum's stadium thread.

the lot where zellers was, and the lot where robinsons was. Oh and the tivoli lot for shits and giggles.

GO, let's see just how good you are

also can't wait to see something go where that old hotel used to be, in front of the LIUNA brick building - that spot always feels so bare... esp. with the bus station in front of it..

but it'll need to be classy - after all - the hamilton gentleman's club is right next door on the corner after all. hur hur yes yes quite *puffs cigar and plays darts*

The tallest portion on the west flank looks like it's a couple floors above the first step down, unless I got the steps wrong. That should put it at 22 storeys (?), and it should rise fast now. If I have the steps confused it's probably about 17 floors now. It appeared to be taller than St. Paul's spire on the weekend.

Sorry no photos -- this was just from a few glances while driving down the Sherman Access earlier today.

That would be a very pretty view for that beautiful (but not very deep), church! Perhaps the underground YMCA could be considered

My mind just went to a really weird place when you said that - picturing the "underground" on king william with the ymca in it lol..

but yes.. that poor cursed church.. or maybe it's the curse of God for desecrating the church lol..

also the "park" sorta feels like they took it from main street by the bus station there near john. (off image on the right one block up)
