Wow, slick. Looks more like a banking hall than an arena, but in a good way.

It suits Ottawa's character and is a similar feel to TD stadium

Calgary and Ottawa are really competing to see who can get this through without screwing up. At least Calgary's existing arena is in a good location, though Ottawa's CTC is probably better suited for modern hockey and event operations.

Very impressive! I like the direction of this a lot.

Here's hoping this gets its legs.

It looks great, I like the swoop that mimics the Senators logo. It's understated and still interesting.

Glulam? It looks like it to me and I wonder if that one tower will be an glulam/hybrid structure.

I like it. I like when an arena doesn't really look like an arena - as it fits in better with the environment and looks classier.

Love it. If it looks like that complete with those buildings or a reasonable facsimile, it will be the best arena in Canada.

Hey, I wonder what will happen first - Winnipeg getting 5 separate legs of rapid transit or the Olympic Stadium in Montreal getting a new roof?

I find the proposed Ottawa arena (who knows if this is close to the final design) looks similar to the latest defunct Calgary proposal.

Here's the arena proposed previously for the failed RVL bid a few years back, that one was designed by Rossetti, as was Calgary's. Haven't heard who designed the current Ottawa iteration but it does seem like it may be Rossetti as well.

Took some rough measurements of transit distance to each NHL arena (minus Winnipeg, because I don't know what the situation is there). I'd love some insight from those who have attended games in these cities. Some Ottawa forumers believe having one station directly built in the arena could be a hazard.

Advantage of a downtown arena of course is encouraging people to eat out at restaurants and take on other nearby activities before and after games, thus reducing the influx of riders on the transit system and vehicular traffic.

Union Station is about 200 meters from the ACC. Though only one subway station is near, they also have streetcars. GO is probably not running at those times.

Vancouver is about 140 meters from Stadium-Chinatown with most people probably heading in the same direction, Calgary 400 or so meters from Victoria Pak/Stampede and Edmonton is directly on MacEwan, which has a far lower frequency/capacity than any other system, so I imagine many take the 700 meter trek to Churchill.

The Sens arena will be about 220 meters from both Pimisi and Bayview (lines 1 and 2), so three stations really. I do hope they include a covered walkway between the arena and stations, even if only partially (one wall and a roof) along the tracks.

220m to two different stations and access to two rapid transit lines is more than enough. The current parking situation has people walking as far as 625m to get to the front door using the covered walkway and pedestrian paths. I have no concerns with the access to transit in the current plan but would love to see at least partially covered access to one or both the stations.

Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg is squished between the two main downtown transit arteries, Portage Avenue and Graham Avenue. So excellent from a transit perspective with busy bus stops right outside each arena entrance. But that said, I'd imagine that overall transit ridership for Jets/Moose games is fairly low relative to other Canadian cities... it's just not that much of a hassle to drive to the game.

To my eyes it looks like there are far more buses going to football games at IG Field, because driving to and from there + parking are more of a pain.

Looks like a convention centre. I like when arenas don't look like arenas. I can't decide if this qualifies.

Didn't notice. Never heard of them.

This site would have been a good one for Rossetti's inverted bowl.

Smiley face was for the "didn't notice". But it's true I never heard of them...
