^ The Assumption Church lot building is not bad but it looks too office-like. It needs something else....like balconies for starters.

I don't know. It looks way too much like an office building to me. I like the glass but something about this seems a little off.

Agreed that the facades need more depth. The large grid should be pushed out more, to 18" or so. We're all gaga over the new Printers Row proposal for this reason...

That's most likely when it was designed. They sat on this for years.

I'm just glad something larger than 30 floors is getting built in the south loop.

We are in the era of angular blue glass. I wouldn't mind a resurgence of brick. Can somebody publish a whitepaper about brick being "green" or something?

The beige canyons of river north could use some more glassing up, not less, to break up the relentless beige. The render of the proposed Hubbard st building is a good example...

I can't stand when they expose those circular cement columns to "break up" the design, they are the worst!!! And who wants a giant cement pillar in the middle of their balcony!

THIS!

I've loathed this for years. I even hate the cylinder column exposed inside the unit.

And yes, I'm not sure how that Hubbard St building could get any more boring. It's budget must be pretty limiting.

The hubbard street building is the best design that firm has come up with by a huge margin, though.
