I'll try to make this short. This isn't about soccer but as the RSA is sending out information about their move to a one club model they answered some questions that people had forwarded to them. One of the questions was about facility access. The RSA has a lease agreement with the Eventplex at Evraz place that runs through 2015 ( I believe). In their response to the question they mentioned that there were plans in place by a private investor to build a new dedicated indoor soccer facility somewhere in east Regina.

Has anyone heard anything about this? The information went as far to say that construction may start this June. I frequent this forum fairly regularly and so it surprised me that I hadn't read about it here first.

Anyhow, does anyone has information?

One of the cranes at the University is being taken down this weekend. Seems like just yesterday they were setting them up! Quick job.

Side note on that Bellagio building - pretty disappointing how small those balconies are given how close that building is to the park. Would have some great views.

I have no information, but I was wondering... It seems that some sort of construction is about to take place at the former Zellers location at Victoria Square. Would the ceiling height be too low for an indoor soccer facility?

The old Zellers location is all fenced off and some kind of construction is taking place. Pretty sure he is referring to that. Unless Gold's Gym is going in the old Zellers spot?

The golds gym is going behind the zellers on a vacant lot, along with retail of some sort. But there is some activity going on in the old zellers, not sure what is going in there though?

Yes, Gold's is on the south side of the street in the new construction but I am referring to the former Zeller's store. The back side is fenced off and there is a construction trailer there. I have no idea what is going in there, but I was curious: would the ceiling height of the old Zeller's be high enough to allow for indoor soccer?

My mistake. Read the other post wrong. No idea what is going there

Especially for those lower balconies with those giant stone-clad pillars taking up 1/2 the space.

Not sure about the ceiling height but the support beams every 20' or so to hold up the ceiling would likely impede play.

Minimum 2X the height. (Probably more.)

Would it be demolition that's in store for the old Zellers at VSq mall?

Best of all the new gymnasium loses all of the character that Luther likes to promote for their annual basketball tournament.

Then to boot they literally bulldozed dozens mature trees...so they could put up a parking lot.

Their choice was probably this or no gym. The money likely just wasn't there to create an amazing gym that matched the rest of the school.

I can say with authority that they didn't need a new gym in the first place. They certainly didn't need a stage with hydraulic lifting. The school has less than 500 students.

Obviously finances played a part in the design, but when they've already raised over $9 million dollars in donations, including $1.75M from the Semple's and $2.5M from Belsher they could have spent more time on the design. I'm not asking for miracles but literally a grey box is as unimaginative as you can get.

When is GonR supposed to be completed?

In Harbour Landing, Mr.Mike's Steakhouse has a sign up and should be open this summer according to their facebook page. (Heard they will be across from the hotel.)
