There is a thread about this on the Vancouver forum.

I think the general consensus is that the Strait of Georgia is much too deep (300+m) and much too busy as a shipping channel for a bridge to be built. Besides, in my opinion, Vancouver Island is much larger than PEI and I didn't really feel disconnected or separated from the rest of country when I lived there. The ferries are just fine.

This sound interesting.
More on the deep water port in Iqaluit and a possible highway access.

Cool. It'll be neat to start seeing Nunavut license plates on our roads more.

Driving from Kelowna to Vancouver this time of year can be a roller coaster of seasons.

In Kelowna weather was nice and there was very little snow on the ground.

Driving through West Kelowna.

Approaching the 1700 meter summit along Highway 97 Connector things get wintery quickly.

Crazy how the whole route has speed limit of 120km/h throughout winter!

And much less snow again when approaching Merritt.

Winter's back on along Coquihalla Highway.

Descending from the summit temperatures rise quickly.

And it is nothing short of spring nearby Chilliwack.

Well the idea of speed limits is supposed to be the maximum speed you can drive in ideal conditions. If conditions aren't ideal, you slow down. Too many provinces use the nanny approach and set the speed limit as a worst case scenario, so that when conditions are clear the limit is thoroughly ignored. It's nice to see BC treat drivers like adults.

The 407 extension bypasses a section of the 401 that's at a standstill every day, often on weekends too. It's much, much busier and more congested than anything around Renfrew. The north is getting billions in new 4 lane highways, including the 400 extension and sections of Highway 17 in the northwest. And the 417 will no doubt be incrementally extended west. Of course, there's an argument to be made that commuter rail through the Ottawa Valley would be a better use of the money.

Dufferin Construction has been awarded the contract to widen the 401 from Hurontario Road to the Credit River in Mississauga. The 3km, $75 million contract will see the highway widened from the current 6 lane cross section to a 10+2 HOV cross section in a collector-distributor setup, as the recent widening from the 403 to Hurontario was built.

https://www.raqs.merx.com/public/bulletin/contractView.jsf?id=33898201

Funding has been secured to bring the collector-express system all the way to Highway 25 in Milton, a total distance of 24km. With this contract, 6km of it will have been completed. Apparently the MTO will be issuing the final 18km as a large, single contract through Infrastructure Ontario as a P3 instead of the traditional bid-build method used for the first 6km.

The 401 is going to be one hell of a road (perhaps literally...). 80km of collector express!

^there is a small 4km gap in the Collectors Express system between the 409 and the 427, so unfortunately, its not 80 contiguous km. Once the Collectors Express system gets extended to the 412 in the east, you will have a 50km section and a 30km section. The 30km section will feature the worlds widest highway (18 through lanes), while the 50km section will feature the worlds busiest highway point (over half a million daily cars).

The longest Collector-Express system I know of its I-95 between New York and Philadelphia, which features 93km of contiguous collector express freeway.
