No.

The 40-floor tower was to occupy the slender block bound by Evergreen and St. Paul.

Scion Dallas is to occupy the block I linked to in the original post, which is northeast of the aforementioned project.

Archer Western to build new TEX Rail station at DFW airport in US

The Terminal B station will serve as the last stop in TEX Rail's proposed 27-mile commuter rail project, which is currently being built by the Archer Western Herzog joint venture.

It will begin service next year and also features a walkway connecting to the existing Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) station located adjacent to Terminal A.

TEXRail will extend from downtown Fort Worth, across north-east Tarrant County, through North Richland Hills and Grapevine, and into the airport’s Terminal B.

This line is projected to serve 8,000 riders on a daily basis at nine stations by the end of the first year of operation and by 2035 the number is expected to increase to nearly 14,000.

All nine stations will include ticket vending, covered seating, lighting, as well as security cameras.

"We have some pretty dramatic changes coming at Chase Tower," said Jonathan Landau, CEO of building owner Fortis Property Group. "We want to deliver something that gives you better access to the building."

"We are going to make the plaza in front an extension of the Arts District," he said. "Right now, it's not very appealing for arrivals. The building has so much to offer by repositioning the plaza and creating an art component."
A more open plaza area, landscaping, walkways and a motor drop off at the base of the building are part of the plans for the Ross Avenue side of the tower.

"It's going to be a pretty dramatic change," he said. "We are going to strip clean the entire plaza and start from scratch."

"We plan to bring in a top tier restaurant to the rotunda which it was initially designed for," Landau said. "It's a prime location and absolutely beautiful space."
Landau said he's almost done with the designs for the plaza renovations and plans to start construction in the coming months.

That's fantastic news for Fort Worth. A direct rail connection to DFW will spur a renaissance of growth the likes which the city has never seen in its history.

I really wish the would re-light the top of the building. It just looks so sad and dark now with the faint blue LED lighting in place. That end of the skyline just seems so dark now. Bring back the bright lights!

I agree, I wish more of the larger buildings on this side of the skyline embraced LED lighting, it would make the night time skyline even more appealing.

Just intensify the blue for Chase and it'd be better. I still don't understand why they have that damn logo only on the north face of the crown and not the south.

The sides of the top had lighting in the past that lit the entire top of the building up. Now there's just faint blue LED lights in the key hole. They could always keep the key hole the blue color and add white lights to the sides of the top to light the rest of it up. That would be a cool looking contrast!

Fort Worth new Ikea

Ikea is coming to the Alliance corridor in north Fort Worth.

The popular Swedish home furnishings retailer announced plans Wednesday for a 289,000-square-foot store with 900 parking spaces at the southwest corner of Interstate 35W and North Tarrant Parkway. It has had a store in Frisco since 2005 and will open a second North Texas location in Grand Prairie later this year.

“We are thrilled with our success in North Texas since opening our first store 11 years ago, so we are excited to propose a Fort Worth store to grow our Dallas-area reach,” said Lars Petersson, Ikea U.S. president, in a press release. “This proposed Fort Worth store would complement our Dallas-area presence in Frisco and soon in Grand Prairie by bringing the unique family-friendly shopping experience even closer to customers in the western part of the Metroplex.”

For DFW Airport, an increase in federal aviation dollars could permit or speed the construction of a sixth terminal, Hegarty said.

The airport is in discussions with its largest tenant, American Airlines, about possibly building a sixth terminal, DFW Airport CEO Sean Donohue has said.

With the area’s population and economic growth, the airport’s existing 165 gates will not be enough to handle the region’s projected growth, he said. The proposed Terminal F could add about 30 gates. Donohue said in past discussions that he hopes to open a new terminal early in 2020 or soon after.

A sixth terminal would put DFW “at the forefront of international airports,” Hegarty said.

“The intent would be to would make DFW one of the premier airports in the world,” Hegarty said, “taking (ideas from) some of the more recently built facilities, such as the airports in Singapore and Abu Dhabi, and applying them here.”

The Obama administration never took action on the issue, but U.S. airline executives have asked Trump to consider doing so.

How about let's not take taxpayer and consumer money for these huge construction projects, only to have them privatize our investment.

And for him to call air traffic control "out of whack," what an insult to air traffic controllers. How many planes fly every day? How many of those fly into each other? Ours is the busiest and safest airspace on earth.

And the dig at the Obama administration is not true. The reason for unstable funding for airport infrastructure during his administration was a Republican-led Congress blocking funding he asked for.

In June, on the northeast corner of Walnut Hill Lane and N. Central Expressway, TreeHouse will open its first store built from the ground up. Its energy-efficient features are a complement to the store's mix of environmentally-friendly and healthy-living products, designs and services. The store will run on its own power, "even during the coldest and darkest day," Ballard said on a walk-through of what is still a construction site. Treehouse, which is funded by a group of Dallas investors, is also looking for another location and according to real estate sources, is considering a former Sports Authority space in Plano on Preston Road.

Tesla is opening a Supercharger station, the only one inside the city of Dallas, next to Houndstooth and TreeHouse's outdoor living display area. Tesla's Superchargers, which are mostly located on major highways for long-distance travelers, recharge its electric car models in minutes rather than hours. TreeHouse is the catalyst for a redevelopment of The Hill, a 236,000-square-foot shopping center. A 5,000-square-foot building will be built along Walnut Hill for two restaurants that will face TreeHouse, said Todd Minnis, principal of Capref Walnut Hill, a Dallas-based limited partnership that owns shopping center. Other restaurants are also in the works. "We're making a lot of progress and later this summer, a few months after TreeHouse opens, there will be even more reasons to visit the shopping center," Minnis said. Dallas-based Cypress Equities is redeveloping the 16-acre shopping center.

New apartment block on the way in growing West Dallas

Toll Brothers is planning to build on a roughly 4-acre site west of downtown at the northeast corner of West Commerce and Pittman Street.

The property is now occupied by an large commercial building.

Toll Brothers' spokesman John Piedrahita confirms his firm is working on the deal. "At this time, it is slated to be approximately 280 units," he said in an email.
