Yeah, we have one of those too. Very mixed feelings. At least people can go in yours...

That's an old photo. The hideousness of the Bell Aliant Tower (and Assumption Place) will eventually be muted as high rise development continues (Three Sisters, Gateway Towers, Infinity Tower and hopefully the Ashford/Downing complex).

It is a shame there is no restaurant or observation deck at the top of the Bell Aliant Tower, but, it was not built to support the weight of such a thing. At the very least, Bell should put a lighting display on the tower of some kind, but, I guess that is not a priority for them.

I've always liked that tower personally. I know it's not traditionally pretty, but it has this sort of cool, 80s high tech vibe or something. A slightly cleaner, sleeker version of London's BT Telecom Tower.

Great shot. The skyline looks solid too. I think it may even be 'completed'.

Now I'd like to see secondary skylines flourish. Burnaby style.

There's no mountain on Jesus island (Laval), it's flat prairie and is running out of Greenfield dev. Time for Laval to start building up.

The spire of the historic St-Sauveur church was renovated last year and the company doing the work took nice pics, clearly depicting the neighbourhoods' layout relative to Haute-Ville.

Could say the same thing about Toronto when Toronto-Dominion Centre was built.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toronto-Dominion_Centre

Or Place de Ville in Ottawa.

https://urbsite.blogspot.com/2013/11...view=timeslide

Or when Montreal's skyline was just Place Ville-Marie, CIBC, Tour de la Bourse and Telus.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/mont...4338387450681/

Or even Edmonton in the 1970.

Every City has had awkward phases with one or a few sparse towers much taller than the rest. Edmonton will fill out as it did in the 70s.

Umm, I don't think they were saying that Edmonton is uniquely flawed and a failure as a city or something. They just don't like that particular look. Has nothing to do with any other city.

Just showing that every city goes through awkward phases where we have one or a couple towers way taller than the rest, but it fills out. Even if Stantec today seems an odd man out, it will eventually be among others.
