Forgot that the U of C owns McMahon. I suppose buying it would cost an arm and a leg. Maybe some kind of land swap could be arranged. The age of it shouldn't pose a problem though, Lambeau in Green Bay is older and has been extensively redone.
As for the Saddledome's roof, I have to wonder what OCO's thinking was. I realize they probably wanted an iconic structure, but even in the 1980s this new configuration had started to lose favour...IIRC only three others like it were built worldwide.
Is the roof really an insurmountable problem though? I've read that major concerts cannot be held there because of weight issues, but is there no cost-effective way that the roof can be strengthened? Or are there other issues with the roof that I'm not aware of?
In any case I suspect that it will be at least a decade before anything substantial is done, either at the existing sites or new ones.
