Minus the towers cladding I personally like the way this is looking with the black and white balconies. It's a nice touch that they painted the undersides black and white to match the glass. It's a shame that attention to detail wasn't done on the entire project. Definitely not as terrible as some are saying IMO.

I think there are so many towers going up on Yonge Street, that whether you hate this one or love it, or indifferent like me. It really wont make much of an impact.

It makes a negative impact if you are into good architecture, and not just into height and numbers.
A huge impact in this case because of its location near the intersection of College and Yonge and next to one of the nicest heritage buildings in downtown Toronto.
And that attitude is precisely why so much of Toronto looks like shit. Torontonians have historically not been all that picky about what things look like. Crappy buildings, crappy sidewalks, overhead wire disasters everywhere, depressing subway stations, etc. When a population doesn't care, it shows.

Depressing subway stations? Sure compared to some of Montreal's but they are a reflection of the time they were built and are much nicer then most metro stations built elsewhere in N.A at the time. That argument also doesn't stand up when you look at the current stations about to open in 10 days time.
And aside from wider sidewalks I like that Yonge street is an organic sometimes tacky mishmash of styles. It's a reflection of the city. As long as our other avenues can mature into grander more refined routes I think we should let Yonge be Yonge.

Yeah the new Subway stations opening next week are really modern and nice looking. Unfortunately back in the 50's and 60's when most of Toronto's stations were u/c the style wasn't that great.
When it comes to buildings, I agree Toronto has a greater share of tacky/boring glass boxes. Its unfortunate but also important to not paint the entire city with that brush. There have been some solid high quality and or very unique towers come out of the recent boom including: One Bloor East, Four Seasons, ICE Towers, Harbour Plaza Towers, Theatre Park, the new Delta Hotel.
And there some pretty awesome towers under construction as we speak that should turn out quite well: The One, CIBC Square, Wellesley On The Park, and Massey Tower to name a few. We are also starting to get some great proposals like the Mirvish Towers, One Yonge Development, The Well, and many more.
Give Toronto time, it's still growing very fast. I would tend to agree that there are too many mediocre glass boxes, but there is some promise on the horizon.
