^ The big step that Calgary needs to take is to (1) improve connections between the CBD and the Beltline and (2) fill in the parking lots along the CP rail line that divides the CBD and the Beltline. That would create a large, contiguous, dense urban district that, I think, would make the city look and feel even bigger than it already does.

Technology is changing, heights are getting easier to manage.

Going by the diagrams page the CN tower is already only the 5th tallest free standing structure, and when you add in under construction there's 6 things ready to get ahead of it. So It's set to be out of the top 10 globally by the 2020s.

I agree - luckily most of the underpasses are getting major upgrades and the south side of the tracks (Beltline) is improving along 10th ave but still a long way to go. For some reason most people don't seem to care about developing these lots here. Rarely hear about it even within the development crowd.

Did a job at Canada Place 17th floor. One of their boilers blew up!!

They did not let me on the roof. Pictures from the mechanical room. Apparently their worried about jumpers or just clumsy people lol.

Love the Vancouver Library!

I really like Calgary's skyline and it's developing some great layers and is really expanding out of it's business core. The thing I also like is that even Calgary's newer towers have some architectural merit and aren't all glass boxes that morph into one another like some big blob. You can actually tell the towers apart due to the great variety of architecture, building styles, colour, and facades.

Apparently Amsterdam Saskatchewan might well be abandoned completly in a few decades. It went from 25 people in 2001 to 19 in 2006 (I think? Might be the next census over.)
