The plan is to turn the entire plot into mostly commercial space. This old news story indicated plans for a hotel. https://leaderpost.com/news/local-ne...-business-game

A sign on Google Streetview lists this website. https://fourhorse.ca/land-leasing-opportunities/

Wondering why no new large suburbs in the 1980s? Did the city cut back on development?

There was a huge recession interest rates were high big companies leaving Big Banks such as pioneer life shut down the Regina headquarters also big grocery warehouses left the cityThe NDP were in power. They were anti-development all this led to a disaster.

Ummmm... the PCs were in power in the 80s. As usual I don't expect you to be right about anything and usually ignore you but I thought I should correct that part.

1981
High interest rates, Canada and the 80s what year?

The year when Canada experienced high interest rates was 1981. During this year, the Bank of Canada raised its key interest rate to combat high inflation, which had reached over 12 percent. The average 5-year fixed mortgage rate in Canada peaked at about 21 percent, leading to significant financial challenges for homeowners.

The NDP where in power during this recession so there you go

The Saskatchewan provincial NDP had nothing to do with the Bank of Canada in 1981. The NDP have never been in power federally. You've proven time and time again you don't know anything and that you're severely keyboard challenged. Just go play in your little Moose Jaw thread.

If you want to blame the decade of stagflation on the federal liberals that's absolutely fair. We overspent, undertaxed, and created an unsustainable financial monster.

But the provincial NDP had nothing to do with interest rates.

If you look at the real dark times here, it was all a direct result of Devine era austerity, privatization of Crowns, and a global crash in commodity prices.

SaskOil went from a major player in downtown Regina to a subsidiary in Calgary, all within 15 years. We lost an entire generation of wealth with the removal of our oil industry.

Devine set the stage for two decades of urban neglect. It's not even a political thing. There were real criminal fraud charges brought.

University Park East, Richmond Place and Varsity Park were all built in the 1980s. Interest rates were high but that doesn't mean there was no expansion.

Nice day today, tomorrow is going to be far too windy. At the long term care site pile drilling has moved onto the next wing, foundation columns for the first wing being poured.

Lake Ridge and Windsor Park were started in the late 80s.

Actually the late 90s were the worst for development. I remember there were only a few spec show homes built in the whole SE one year. There was almost zero multifamily in the whole City for several years.

Most of the pavement ripped up in the Glen Elm Trailer Park. The power poles are being taken down. Weather looks to be turning from cool to cold soon.

2 videos.

Dewdney looks very close. I wonder how 11th Ave is coming along. The city does a terrible job of updating its own projects on its own website.

From my vantage point it appears that that 1th has all the lines painted and the traffic signals went in last week. They appear to be doing some adjacent work such as paving stones on FWH Mall. I am not sure if they plan to plant the trees this year.

On Dewdney I hear that CN is the main holdup with the rail crossing. Not sure what they will do there if it does not get done this fall.
