My mistake; I had (unhappily) thought CTBUH/Emporis declared Wacker to be the only relevant datum for Sears Tower because it was deemed the "main entrance".

How is their general rule being articulated now? I do think Aqua's parkhomes should be included (and would love to help out in formulating a better rule if the current rule is somewhat antiquated).

This is not my pic - Denetsu over on SSP posted it off of Flickr. The photographer is "Atelier FLIR" (of Atelier FLIR & IIT):

Love the balcony designs on this one. I'm glad to see this style coming back. It was popular back in the 60s. One of my favorite towers in Houston is the Exxon Tower which has similar balconies that fan out.

Yes and no... at the last CTBUH meeting on this issue at IIT last year (at which Emporis was represented), there was general agreement to use the lowest major entrance rather than the single main entrance. This is because it can be impossible to say which is the main entrance.

Now the question is, does Aqua have a common entrance on the east side?

This, by the way, is why The Shoreham is measured from the park level, while The Regatta is measured from Upper Wacker.

^^ The Regatta should be measured from Upper Harbor, not Upper Wacker. There's no entrance on Wacker, is there? Even if there is, it would be a garage entrance - does that count?

The rule can be applied in weird ways. Would, for example, an underground pedway connection count? (I guess, at least, in Chicago, the pedway is not a "major" entrance, but that's only because nobody wants to use them... )

I'm taking a trip to Chicago in August 2009 and I have 2 questions pertaining directly to this building.

1. Will it be completely done by then?

2. Will there still be hotels in it? I know that one hotel chain pulled out of a deal, but has the space been filled by a new company? (I'm interested in staying in this building when I go)
