That's the best kind of reaction I can think of.
economy's actually shrinked a little in manufacturing.

and overall building numbers dropped a little too.

it's a miracle that these projects got all built this fast...

Pics by me today:
Steel superstructure for mechanical penthouse being installed on old hotel part of the site.
You also get a good idea of the floorplate.

^Thanks for the update, officedweller. Is it just me, or is this finally starting to move up faster? I'm surprised to see it is nearly level with the hotel.

I think it's just the angle. Locked-in's pic of Dec 10th showed it 2-3 storeys below the old hotel. I think maybe one floor has been added - and there's still one to go before it's level with the old hotel.

I'm from slightly different angle than officedweller, but have similar view. It took 2 weeks for last floor to complete. They also look to be more like 3 floors to go before level with the old hotel roof.

Can't wait for this to move above the old hotel and for Jameson to move into the "organic" floors... then things will get interesting....

Thanks for the updates! This is going to be a great tower. Go Vancouver's second tallest! (Hopefully it will only have that title for a very brief time) I love urban streets that have walls of towers, much more than the tower in the park form. But then again, it is nice to have variety in a city. Some streets with true canyon effects, some with podium based towers, and some with tower in the park developments/plazas makes a good city IMO.

I'm with you on that. Variety makes it more interesting.

I have to walk around the other side of the building from my office (and actually go down a few floors to an unoccupied office on one of our floors) to take the pics of the Georgia (hence the infrequent pics) - so I can't keep track of progress.

(Mind you, I don;t keep track with Capitol, either, because its all repetitious).

Thanks.

I like the fact that the setbacks at the podium levels allow the brick on the old Hotel Georgia to wrap around the corner - and will even retain one strip of old windows on the north side. It allows the hotel to stand on its own despuite being inegrated into the new project.

Pics by me today - Dec 30, 2009 - mechanical penthouse being enclosed.
For some reason, it looks like the "awning" closer to the corner could be for an amenity area
(it's not enclosing any equipment and that could be a hot tub there (with an orange tarp in it)
with steps to a patio to the south)) - could that be true?

wow, great pics. i'm still a little taken aback at how skinny this tower is. (though not as taken aback as i am when i walk on those ultra narrow little sidewalks along georgia street there).
