Oh wow! Thanks, MayDay! So your really from Salem. That is awesome. I was just there on Sunday after church for breakfast, lol small world. Great to know someone on here that is a local not only to the Youngstown area, but NE Columbiana County.

Thank you, I have checked out UrbanOhio before, not too much, but I will now.

BTW, Flats East Bank has not been thrown away altogether has it? I really liked that plan, and I really like how it redevelops not only the lakefront in a way, but adds more character to the Flats.

Rookie,

In May I finished my master of Urban Planning Design and Development at CSU. I loved it, it's a great urban campus and has a great faculty (mostly). While I didn't choose to stay in Cleveland I'm glad I attended graduate school there. Best of luck. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me.

Hi, this is supposed to be a new post, but I cannot figure out how to post new??? Duh! I cannot see anywhere to do that. Anyway, I just wondered if anyone knew what is going on with the Trust Tower. I know K&D is supposed to renovate the whole complex--but credit crunch has apparently slowed things. But, is this just going to sit there empty and ghost -like? Anyone have any updates? Their rendering for the new renovation looked fabulous!

If you're asking what I *think* you're asking, all you have to do is hit "Post Reply" which will allow you to post a new reply to the thread.

As for the Cleveland Trust tower, I would imagine that like so many other projects (in Cleveland and elsewhere), it will have to wait until the credit markets thaw. I think it's a very viable project, and with that I don't think we'll need to wait 10 years or however long it will take to be *completely* out of the current economic crisis. Here's hoping

^How about a new book of photography after some of these projects are completed. Maybe you could call it "21st Century Cleveland Architecture" or something along those lines?

Flats East Bank

Does anyone know what is going on with Flats East? Even the website seems to be down. If nothing is going to go her for a while, it would be nice to see some redevelopment of green space along the river besides open mud fields. I envision a prairie type setting with scattered trees...some bike/walk trails, etc. I know adding public park space was in the flats east plan---but it seems we cannot get any news on this since the credit problem blew up.

everything i read says the flats project is still on, however the site being down is peculiar. as far as green space goes, that too is in the works.

Give me some time folks, but just in case you hadn't heard the good news:

From cleveland.com:
Cleveland, county commissioners agree on $20 million deal for convention center

Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson formally announced a deal this afternoon to sell the city's downtown convention center to Cuyahoga County for $20 million, $2.5 million more than the final offer made earlier by commissioners.

At a City Hall news conference, Jackson noted that the deal still must be approved by City Council if the county is to acquire the downtown site for a $425 million convention center and medical mart.

More at http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2009...ers_agree.html

In other words, (outside of City Council disapproving - highly unlikely), this project is a go

Mall

This plan will not ruin the view to the lake will it? The plaza/mall surrounded by public buildings is such a great open type European style plaza... There is not enough green/open public space like this downtown. Sunsets are incredible from there.

Also, Did anyone ever find out why the Flats East website went private? Is that a bad omen?

I'm not sure why it went private, but it seems to be back up and running now. I was viewing it a few days ago.
