Typical Claridge. Site plan filed while the site is already nearly fully excavated. They know they'll get anything/everything they want from the City.

Can we call this 'Cramdaz'?

A fitting name, just a few steps from Cramdeau Street.

Frustrated they didn't revisit the entire plans for the site.

So outside of the shared underground parking we don't know what, if anything, they are (or plan) to build on the lot fronting George St?

This thing approved with the first Andaz project a decade ago.

That proposal is really old. And the Andaz extension encroahes on that lot so impossible that would get the Andaz Extension plus this proposal.

I certainly hope it won't be built. I wish they could purchase the leftover block and planned a brand new proposal for the amalgamated holdings. Could do three towers that are fairly well spaced apart and a podium that looks like several different heritage buildings. I'd avoid a tower over most of the Dalhousie block, sticking with a 4 floor podium.

Once the Andaz expansion is built, it will really limit what they can do with the Hampton lot, and anything that's built on George will be blocked by another tower where Dunn's was.

It seems like this block is poised to be the next CP 1,2,3,4,Envie. Very dense, packed towers with all boring designs & all the same height.

Yup. Not something you want in the ByWard Market, but encouraged by the City.

Crane up before the hole has even been approved? Sounds like Claridge.

Still no clarity on what they're building?

Are they building underground parking for total space but then only building Andaz extension and leaving the other half empty (for now) - kind of like what they did with "Ascent" at Lebreton?

This also takes up the space where the Hampton Inn was proposed - is that no longer and did Claridge purchase the site?

They are showing a 22 storey residential building in the site plan. Not sure why it’s not part of this site plan application.

That one was approved with the first Andaz tower a decade+ ago.

Ok, got confirmation from a guy on Rail Fans Canada that they are only building that 22 floor tower approved with the first Andaz tower. The Andaz extension has been shelved for a future project that includes the new (rejected) Hampton Inn lot.

I found what appears to be a slightly different render on Groupe Lessard's (window manufacturer) Facebook, posted Jan 2024:

Wow, what a turn of events. We get what looks like some high quality density, and also a future opportunity for so much more than a little addition to the Andaz. What a nightmare for the new West facing residents of the Moxy/Major, a huge construction project right away, with another one coming any time after.
