I used to park here and take the transitway downtown every day for summer jobs. There is a sidewalk on the overpass (protected with concrete barriers) west as the extension of Labele towards St. Laurent. It's not that bad of a walk, I found it pretty convenient until they closed the offramp from the 417 Westbound.

'Come experience luxury living in the heart of a freeway interchange, featuring a sidewalk (with a concrete barrier) on an overpass to a dying regional mall! It's not that bad of a walk! Live your best life amongst budget motels, strip malls and car dealerships. The worst Tex-mex in Canada is only steps away!'

If they share one podium it's certainly enough space - but an odd choice none the less. Maybe they know something about St Laurent and the interchange that we don't?

Perhaps there's some kind of rebuild on the horizon that will make that spot more desirable? Or they just got the land really cheap and want to cash in on the cities tight rental market at any cost.

Tell us how you really feel about this location. Stop mincing your words

All kidding aside, a good description. It is a real focus of suburban crapitude.

just ... wow. This is bad. I've always thought the area between St Laurent and Cyrville station needs major reinvestment, TOD, pedestrianization and all that. And you have to start somewhere ... but this is the very last parcel I would think to build on in that area. Honestly. The only way this could work is if the surrounding streets and intersections were narrowed and pedestrianized.

This takes the worst of town and suburb, its fascinating.

Surprisingly accurate... Usually the artists put the towers in the middle of a forest or meadow.

The area is undergoing a major development push. City Park has seen 2 of 5 towers built. There are talks that the movie theatre may be replaced by more condos. Then you have the 4 towers going up at the corner of Ogilvie and Cummings and a couple of other developments next to it on Cyrville. If that wasn't enough, construction is about to start on Tremblay, next to the VIA station. Finally, we also have a proposal for the huge lot bordering St. Laurent and Tremblay. The area will look nothing like it does now in 10 years from now.

I'm not aware of that one if it's different than the Tremblay/Belfast development next to the VIA station, which is basically across from Trainyards.

I wasn't aware of that project. That's a massive development as well.

Here is everything new and notable in the pipeline by floor count for the Queensway corridor in East-Central Ottawa, to the best of my knowledge. The Canlands at Tremblay and St. Laurent are highlighted in red because they are slated for a huge development but not application or proposal yet.

Mods, can we please change the title to 2x30f?

It's interesting that the site is fenced off already and this is still just a proposal.

The renderings look nice for what it is - these aren't perfect but they add much needed density that is needed near our malls. Let's hope they add more towers in addition to this development at St Laurent.

I honestly hope so. I'd obliterate the sea of the mostly empty parking lot that surrounds st-Laurent. maybe even take the Blair approach and integrate towers into the mall.

Such a horrible site. Unless the proposal includes a complete rebuild of the road network, I don't see how this will work.
