EDMONTON | Quarters Tower | ?m |

Conceptual at this point, but damn cool

In response to a request for proposals
for office space housing Edmonton municipal employees, this design proposes a new target LEED Gold office building and surrounding mixed-use complex located between 96 and 97 Streets and south of 103A Avenue.

The urban design concept includes a landscaped pedestrian connection and
a generous south-facing green space that would join the Quarters Armature park to the new Royal Alberta Museum.
At podium level, the building blurs the boundaries of public and private space with a highly transparent corner lobby and commercial activity on the ground level.
Green spaces extend into the building through a publicly accessible urban garden lobby, and all-seasons “sky garden” atria at multiple levels.
Balconies on each level open to the atrium during the winter. Green roofs feature prairie sweet grass, and minimize the urban heat-island effect and storm-water run-off.

The proposed office building and surrounding complex would further revitalize downtown Edmonton by giving momentum to development of this area of downtown Edmonton. This complex would complement the City’s significant investment in the area by to helping to kick start The Quarters Plan for east downtown Edmonton, which projects a final population of 20,000 people.
