So, although we didn't win again this year, we did beat our previous record for the latest winter freeze at YYT. It's the third time this record has been broken in the past decade, according to CBC NL. Previous record was Nov. 11.

Muhaha^

Vancouver went below zero this morning too. Victoria's lowest low this morning was 2.

Party should be over for us tomorrow if the forecast is accurate:

Sunny, mostly calm and 5/6 this morning in Victoria @ 10am. High of only 6 forecast today - dry cold air.

Made it to 8/9 with lows of 1/4 (Airport/Harbour) yesterday - sunny but windy.

Beautiful sunshine but highs of only -3C for the next week. New snow all around the mountaintops. Picturesque.

We've had a couple of awesome winter days in Calgary. Clear sunny skies, light wind, a light dusting of snow. If you can't enjoy yourself in this weather, you have no business being in Calgary

It's sunny, partially cloudy, and there are tiny little wisps of white drifting downtown. Our first snow that I've seen (not officially our first). Seems to be getting heavier too!

Took a quick video from my bathroom window. Not sure if you can see it, but there is snow falling:

EDIT:

Should've waited 10 minutes. It's over now, but it did come down much stronger for a bit there:

Heavy downpour this morning but it then cleared this afternoon (8C).

Still waiting for the first flakes. -1.4C is our coldest temperature so far, so still no hard freeze.

Remember the old debate about no one moving to Vancouver for the climate? I found one who did. A friend of mine posted on FB this morning a picture of his car covered in frost and said he moved there specifically to avoid it, give it up.

Currently 2C in St. John's. Forecast high of 6C.

Norms for November 13

High: 7C
Low: 0C

Records for November 13

High: 16.1C (1946)
Low: -6.9C (1978)
Rainfall: 63.0mm (1946)
Snowfall: 8.5cm (1997)
Snow on ground: 7.0cm (1990)

Reading the above record high, I though, oh, must've been a fine day in 1946. Love that era of our city, wish I could've been there to explore it. Then down to record rainfall, also 1946... damn it. Nevermind.

Currently -20C going "up" to -15C today.

It looks like winter has now hit the entire country.

-1C in Vancouver right now... It appears that Victoria didn't freeze though. Last city standing?

PS: The entire American Midwest froze, all the way down to Houston. Hell, even Matomorros, Mexico. (at sea level)

Currently a pleasant 5C and sunny in Moncton. There's no wind so it feels warmer than that.

Unfortunately we are forecast to get 5 cm of snow tomorrow. This will be our first significant snowfall of the season. The temperatures will still be above freezing (2C), so I'm not sure how much of the snow will stick.

The "polar vortex" is back! lol. Are they going to use this every time a trough in the jet stream pushes the arctic high down into the US now? gotta love media sensationalism...

This seems to happen every few years. They will flip through a meteorologist's encyclopaedia and randomly put their thumb on some interesting sounding term and spread that around like some novel concept for one or two years before moving on to the next one. I figure by next year the short attention span public will be bored of the term "polar vortex" and the media will have picked a new flavour of the month term.

Yup, still no freeze at official Victoria weather stations - yesterday we had a high of 6/7 and low of 3/2 at the airport (YYJ), Gonzales & University 24 hour stations.

Today our overnight/early morning low was +2/+3... Our forecast for today is a high of 7 and low of 1. We will dip below soon - maybe Friday or even late tonight.

Nice fall day
