Thanks for the compliments and constructive criticism everyone!

Naturally, there's a lot more work to be done. And I will try to do my best not to slack off over time like I did before.

Can someone remind me what happened to the DTLA car wash site. I remember there being a lot of speculation about a hotel eventually being placed there. Was there ever a proposal?

In a bit of un-development news, they're finally got the verizon storefront removed at the PAC Mutual building. There's a backhoe where the store was working diligently on removing the rest. I have to say, I'm pretty excited not only for the courtyard that's coming, but for Tender Greens.

One thing I don't like about the loss of the previous thread....the "downtown project rundown" one....is that the link to it won't open unless one is signed into ssp.com. so it's behind what I guess can be called a firewall. That's not super convenient to ppl browsing through this site...who aren't members or signed on....who'd like to see what was being talked about & posted on in the past. yes, I know registering is free, but it's still a nuisance when one has to sign up or log in....when using a computer at work or somewhere else...to visit pages on a website.

Previous dtla thread

not sure what would have happened....from a technical standpoint....if the previous thread had been allowed to remain active. so the saying of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' may or may not apply in this case.

Anything that gets in the way of you posting is great to me.

I only remember that the property was close to being sold. That was last year so I would imagine that the process is further along now. Perhaps someone here knows more.

The best I could do with Google was an old DTLA News article with a picture of an old white dude asking $25M for the site. Incredible how a tiny piece of land can be worth that much.

I'm moving in to the building next door. Thrilled to see some additional redevelopment in the fashion district. I hope construction noise isn't too bad as our windows face this building, but I'm not gonna be a NIMBY about it.

I've actually never seen it. So I wind up in a variation of this convo sometimes too.

"What do you mean you've never seen the Godfather? Are you intentionally avoiding it or something?!"

Were you as disappointed as I was at how inaccurate the representation of downtown in that game was? They basically skipped the historic core. The geography in the game goes: Financial District -> Pershing Square -> Arts District. Still a great game though. Can't stop playing.

If you want a Downtown EXACTLY how it's mapped in real life, play LA Noire. Grand Theft Auto is supposed to just sum up all of what's in the city. How do you think the New York junkies felt when they got GTA IV? They had it a lot worse. This isn't ruling out the fact it's possible. The map is huge. It easily could have been an exact copy, but that isn't what GTA is.

I was revealed that architects are working in the drawing board for a large H&M (it will be massive) that will be located in FIG@7th. It will be about as big or larger than the upcoming Zara.

That is excellent news, kelbeen. I've been waiting for a downtown H&M for years!
