I suppose the Moorlands is being nominated because of architectural excellence. Single family Mansions make up much of the remainder of the surrounding historic neighborhoods; including the single family portion of the Moorlands neighborhood. The best is yet to come.

The Moorlands neighborhood is located just south, and within short walking distance to the Clayton CBD.

Some of those apartment buildings are very nice. Some of the newer stuff is quite nice, too. I almost never feel that way about newer stuff. I didn't know Clayton was so posh.

i love the city of st. louis, and i certainly love this neighborhood. so beautiful and restful. is much of this style french normandy? a few of the photos remind me of the storybook era of the late '20's here in the u.s. one roofline seemed to have just a hint of the eyelash roof. just asking, if anyone knows. again, enjoyed the pictures.

It's important to reiterate that this neighborhood is NOT in the City of St. Louis. It is in the suburb of Clayton, which is one of the wealthiest 'burbs in the metro area.

^ Jive is correct, property values are quite a bit higher in Clayton primarily due to the outstanding schools. Clayton is a relatively urban central burb nestled right up against the StL line at Washington University and Forest Park, just 1 subway stop west along the Metrolink blue line. Clayton has a population of 13,000 yet employs 35,000 in it's central business district.
