I suppose these maps are interesting enough, though hardly surprising. I'm a little confused about why this thread is focusing only on the black population map. I'm especially confused as to how "ghettos" were brought up.
I'd be much more interested to a squirrel race map (for Ontario/Canada), if only to see Exeter's white squirrels get the respect they deserve.

Either that, or the bus was pretty empty and your sample size was small.
Or... perhaps the majority of black people are in a low income bracket and the majority of bus riders are in that same bracket

Sadly I think that is what it is. As much as we like to say that all income groups use the TTC. In the far reaches of Toronto, you are not going to get that many choice riders who will sit on transit for an hour and a half to go somewhere. So what happens is the ones without a car use the service in that area, while the people with money go park and ride at the train or something.
Sad but true in many cases. And that is how it is in North East Scarborough.

Thunder Bay has a lot of black people, too! 435, which is 0.4% of the population!

I saw three today! They were buying groceries!

Well according to Statscan, the City of Kitchener is 3.2% black and the CMA is 2.1%. So that must mean Edmonton has a HUGE black population.

But really though...outside of Toronto and Montreal, blacks make up a fairly small minority group in most cities. Actually, Ottawa too. I noticed that Ottawa had what looked to be a rather large Somali community (they were wearing burkas) when I was there.
