Interesting University of Maryland site that tracks forest cover around the world. I believed that the largest forest cover in Canada was in the West, I am surprised because thanks to this site I discover that the greatest Canadian forest cover is in Southeast Canada, in particular Southern Quebec, New Brunswick (MonctonRad your province seems the greenest in all of Canada!!!!) and Nova Scotia. Southern Ontario is also very green. West-central Canada probably has fewer forests because there are much higher mountains.

Driving through NB on the Trans Canada Highway makes you realise how many trees there are in NB as the road skirts most towns and only really between Grand Falls and Fredericton on that road is there a lot of agriculture. The interior of the province is heavily treed.

NB is over 90% forest cover.

Mind you, the TCH in NB goes out of it's way to avoid farmland, cities and any area of visual appeal. The entire drive from Woodstock to Salisbury is through three hours of nothingness (except for Freddy/Oromocto). I'm sure most tourists to the region are busily wondering where the hell they are going..........

Spectacular!!! This photo gives rise to the desire to arrive in Canada, rent a car and travel between cities, forests and agricultural fields without having a destination. The photo also reminds the scenarios of many American films. :tuo:

I have a 6.5 hour drive north on Thursday to High Level Alberta. the first hour is farm land then forest the rest of the drive.

A lot of American films are shot in Canada.

As for Europeans driving in Canada, many have little idea of the size of the country, thinking you can drive from Montreal to Toronto for lunch, and then on to Winnipeg for supper.

Canada is a spectacular country to explore, just be prepared for the distances between the major cities. Canada is as large as all of Europe (including the Russian part).

Had a swiss team here for the world masters games. They asked how long to drive to Vancouver since they had a flight home the next day. I said go to the airport nearby and get the next flight there. It will take 13 hours to get to Van. They were quite shocked.

The first time we visited PEI was when I was living in Moncton. My parents flew up to visit and we decided to see/cross the bridge. It was new then, I think. We had lunch in Summerside and considered seeing Charlottetown but decided there wasn’t enough time. The first highway distance sign we saw we laughed and, of course, visited Charlottetown. There was lots of time lol

I never did the entire PEI loop, even though I sort of wish I did, but I think you can drive around the entire island in around 5 hours. Tignish to Elmira is around 3 hours.

Tip to tip (North Cape to East Point) by the fastest possible route is about three hours.

To do the entire island via the scenic routes would take 2-3 days (depending on how many stops you make along the way).

Worst April ever continues for Winnipeg. Currently -5 which is about 20 degrees below normal.

Forecast to break another low temp tonight with -13.

Supposed to get to (below normal) double digits by the weekend, but still running 10 to 15 degrees below normal for the next several days.
