Yeah GTH is designed to screw the city and also the RM. So called self governing administrative zone where the province can put their thumb on the scale.

Unrelated, I drove over to the compost giveaway across from the dump and I saw that work is still being done on the non-potable water pipeline for the Viterra crush plant. Pipe stacked up and a big hole being dug north of Inland Drive to bore it under the road.

Maybe ... https://www.redleafpulp.com/project/

Construction pushed back to 2026, opening 2028. The whole thing smack of a concept in search of funding. The investors page shows only government agencies, and their funding is likely contingent on private investment.

Just a few Eastbrook pictures from Friday, and 3 more from Saturday. I passed by a few other places but not much change since last time. They levelled out the remaining part of Eastbrook south of Arens Road so they might build out the last of the roads there. A park will take up some of that space (it is going to have a skate park)

Signage for the Rochdale Burger King is up now.

I stopped by the north Albert bridge Saturday morning but I guess they don't work weekends. When I drove past there a few times this week they had about 5 guys hanging off the rebar cage with harnesses feeding in more rebar.

According to the parcel map on open.regina.ca the land all the way back to the alley is a single property. It is probably common for commercial properties that have a mix of multiple leased buildings and undeveloped areas.

Added some more photos from today: https://www.flickr.com/photos/regina...7720325409071/ A new rental development is getting started on north Courtney in Rosewood, shockingly its another Avana project, just staged equipment at the moment.

Just a question about how photos on flickr work. Are they supposed to have labels somewhere so I know what I'm looking at?

If you select an image, then scroll down it has more info on the photo. If there's no description looking at the Album its in should indicate where its at. I often don't bother with descriptions if the picture is from a place I've visited frequently enough to create an album for. There's also a map that shows where the drone was when it took the photo, though it takes you off the photo if you click it.

I just took a look at the mobile site and it puts the album list fairly far down, so I can start including descriptions for everything. Its pretty easy to put the same description on multiple photos from the upload page.

Edit: After doing some searching I might as well just put the descriptions in the photo titles since there is no way to show the description in the gallery and the title can be 255 characters long.

The "Community Centre" in Gecho's photos is on the old Pump Roadhouse site and is actually a mosque. Work has been extremely slow on that.

Its laughable...criticizing the province...Meanwhile they fell into the oldest pressure tactic under the sun from the illustrious Hill Corporation...

You don't think a Costco at GTH would spur development at Westerra? Anyone who believes otherwise clearly doesn't understand how real estate development works...the proximity would have had it developing, just slower and not wasting 6.8 million subsiding Harvard.

Laughable at best. Another council bowing to the pressure.

Added a few more from this morning while heading over to see if they were still doing rebar on North Albert (they weren't). https://www.flickr.com/photos/regina...7720325409071/

Kinsmen Park South - Renewal Plan

There's a link in the third paragraph for some overview diagrams. Apparently construction this summer on this. Anyone heard when they are starting?

Looks like the ski trails will continue which is great.

Fixed it, copied the url from a previous post but didn't realize the forum put some ... in the middle instead of showing the entire link.

Tender was posted last week and doesn't close until June 3rd. Probably wouldn't start until July at the earliest. Image of the work they are doing. The light area with arcs / circles inside the grey asphalt path area is going to be multiple colours of soft rubberized surface.

Land preparation has started at the SE corner of Harbour Landing where they are going to squeeze in more apartments in that empty spot by the Lewvan. Historical soil contamination from an old shooting range and I think the plan is to seal it under a parking lot.

They were required to clean up the lead shot. It is so heavy that it is quite feasible to sift it out. That may be all they doing right now.

Here s your post from last year.

Regina considering future of Taylor Field redevelopment
The city will likely apply for the Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund (CHIF) to help support the Taylor Field Redevelopment project.
Bachynski said there are no worries with funding concerns regarding the specific reserve.

Although housing plans aren’t finalized, city administration said the project will likely include mixed housing, such as affordable housing.

The report also mentions potentially 500 dwelling units built on 7 acres of infill land.

This would actuate to 400 people per hectare, a significant difference from the density of 30 people per hectare North Central currently sees.

I can't see anything but affordable housing going in the old Taylor field location as it is adjacent to probably the worst part of north central.

This site has lots of info about the original concept:

https://queencityib.com/blog/2022/8/...s-pitch-part-1

Quote:
Here’s how the Taylor Field Promise was described in September of 2012:

“It’s a soft spring morning. You drop your child at a new daycare centre around the corner from home. Cutting through the park, you pick up a coffee on your walk to work. The Taylor Field Neighbourhood is taking shape.

A mix of housing options to meet the diverse needs of our growing community. A model of sustainable development, the new neigbhourhood will also provide work and economic opportunities for local people.

Imagine living in the heart of our city, where it’s a short walk to the game, the attractions of Cathedral or Dewdney or to your downtown office.”

But in 2011, the city offered an even more detailed Taylor Field Promise…

We’ll develop a state-of-the-art residential neighbourhood. The design will seamlessly bring a mix of affordable and market-rate housing as well as new rental units within the new neighbourhood. Two, three and four storey townhouses and low-rise apartments could add 700 residential units. A neighbourhood-scale employment district could see over one hundred thousand square feet of commercial space for local business and professional services.
100K sf of commercial is never happening. there is zero demand for retail or office. Maybe a convenience store.
