If anything, editors got it wrong because getting a trailing scarf seems possible, while a headscarf seem unlikely to lead to this kind of accident.

Edit: if it was a regular scarf as is reliably reported above, the headscarf theory is troubling partially because it is so unlikely. The strangeness of it seems to indicate that the hijab rumour is either true, or was started intentionally and probably maliciously.
I had the same thought; regular winter scarf's potential to get caught is greater than that of a hijab. At the same time, it seems a regular scarf could be taken off in case of emergency easier than a hijab (not that I know how one would put on/take off a hijab).

I'm a little surprised no one was around to help. I'm sure she must have cried out when it started to happen and a metro station in the middle of the day would have at least a few people within earshot. Unless she somehow passed out from an unrelated issue and fell down and the scarf got caught when she was unconscious.

Wasn't that when they discovered her dead body though? Doesn't sound like anyone was able to do much to assist.

The second guideway section is in place and the gantry is moving over to the next section. They took nine days to complete the second section by my count plus one day to move the gantry, two weeks total. It did seem like very little was does this past week so they probably can do one section per week.

I think someone saw her, he called 911, and left the scene.

From York Region Transit. They are really giving the American transit systems a run for their money for poor service levels.

Feb 2014 Service Improvements:

ROUTE 7

Weekdays:
Frequency in the evening after 7 p.m. will be adjusted from
45 minutes to 90 minutes due to low ridership.
No change in span of change.

10 WOODBRIDGE
Weekdays:
Frequency in the evening after 7 p.m. will be adjusted from
45 minutes to 90 minutes
due to low ridership.

NEW ROUTE 15 STOUFFVILLE

Weekdays:
Weekday rush hour frequency will be every 70 minutes.

Saturdays and Sundays:
Frequency will be every 65 minutes. Service to only operate a few hours in the morning and afternoon. No midday service.

VIVA ORANGE
During evenings, frequency changes from 30 to 28 minutes.

well in thier defence stouffville is a town of 25,000 people.. there isn't typically much demand for 10 minute bus service, especially considering they have no post secondary schools.

GO Transit Ordering 65 More Bi Level Trains From Bombardier

24 January 2014

More GO Trains Ordered to Support Continued Expansion
Quote:

Toronto Ontario - In order to enable continued growth and increased ridership across the entire GO Transit network, Metrolinx has placed an order with Bombardier for 65 new GO Train (bi-level) coaches with two options for an additional 75 coaches.

The total investment for the order, including options, is $481 million.

"Metrolinx continues to expand transit to provide more people with the opportunity to get to their destinations more efficiently and more comfortably," said Bruce McCuaig, Metrolinx President and CEO.

"We're addressing congestion in the GTHA (Greater Toronto Hamilton Area) through our numerous projects and increasing travel options for residents in the GTHA."

"More and more people are using GO Transit and that trend has grown consistently over the last several years," said Greg Percy, GO Transit President.

"These new GO Train coaches will allow us to continue meeting our growth needs and support our plans for eventual two-way, all-day service on all of our rail lines."

The Bombardier bi-levels coaches have been used by GO Transit since 1978 and have demonstrated great reliability and comfort for GO Transit customers over their lifetime.

The base order of 65 coaches will be delivered between June 2016 and July 2017 and will be manufactured in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Once delivered, GO Transit will have a total of 743 coaches in service allowing GO the capacity and flexibility to add or enhance service across our busiest routes.

The general rule is that a bus should not operate less frequently than every 60 minutes. Except in a few exceptions in very rural areas.

It should be noted Stouffville has hourly or less GO bus service. Also, rush hour service every 75 minutes does not attract people to transit.

Stouffville may have 25,000 people, but it is linked to the wider York Region area, and so is just part of the wider suburban sprawl.

That's interesting. Stouffville is a little larger than Cobourg so it's neat to see what comparable cities (towns) are up to.

Here's Cobourg's bus map because I know you are all interested...maybe just mike

I used to ride the bus with my grandma for fun when I was little. We would do a whole loop and get off where we got on, lol.

Stouffville is extremely fast growing as well remember. the town essentially doubled in size in 5 years between 2006 and 2011. Its quick becoming Toronto's newest suburb.

Meanwhile Gatineau has a completely byzantine system that I doubt even the drivers understand.

70 minute frequency at rush hour? So basically, two buses during rush hour?

Thunder Bay's experimental route 19 (which served a large rural area) had a daily ridership of 0.5 when it was running! IIRC, it ran on Wednesday and Saturday.

A reminder that this is a bus route that existed:

Part of the reason for its failure was that the bus drivers forgot where it went and took the wrong turns. Also, there were no marked bus stops outside of the built-up part of the city, so no one really knew where or how to get on the bus.
