They seem so close on the north side I assume they'll finish filling it in and pave everything in one go? I assume the one lane in each direction will allow them to close off the curb lanes to install lights/sidewalk/station entrance work.

They probably need at least a bit more of the middle section to be paved to fit one lane in each direction.

The depth appears to be approximately 2–3 feet. It does not seem to be specific to the bus pad and may be intended for additional structural reinforcement.

I think it's fairly close to surface level and agree that it's for a bus pad. They haven't filled in all the way to the north edge and are using jersey barriers as short retaining walls.

Explains the white drain tile (white pipe with the holes in it) from Lexus' photos. They say the concrete curb is one integral pour with the bus slab

“Work to remove the traffic deck and rebuild the roadway will begin at Broadway-City Hall this summer. To complete this work efficiently, W. Broadway between Alberta and Cambie streets will be temporarily closed to vehicles for approximately six months with a detour in place via W. 8th Avenue. Pedestrian access to businesses, services, and residences will remain open throughout the work. With a detour in place, crews can complete this phase of work much more quickly than if traffic were maintained on W. Broadway, reducing the overall length of time that residents, commuters, and businesses are impacted by construction.”

Six months(!) And we thought Main and Broadway was more complicated because of the Lee building.

Rolling closures make no sense at this point. Close Broadway at every station simultaneously if that's what it needs.

Reason #52 that cut and cover would have been better.

From the release it sounds like they'll at Ash for the detour. I assume they'll ditch some street parking on 8th Avenue as well.

I wonder what will happen with the No Frills, their loading bay is off Broadway.

I guess the decking doesn't extend all the way to Alberta so they could maybe setup a temporary loading zone for trucks to back in front of the store?

Or do the traffic deck removal in two stages. Everything from their driveway to the Alberta side while leaving road access from Yukon. Then when complete do the remaining deck removal to Yukon. (Not sure if reversing which part of the deck gets removed is more optimal)
