This thread is absolutely hilarious... Although it wouldn't be the delight that it is, without Mr.Grumpy pants in his captains chair, chiming in with his seemingly all-knowing-owl-like two cents worth. All I can say is if the Lansdowne venture is met with the same energy, charisma, enthusiasm, intensity, passion and devotion; as is found herein this thread, it will prove to be the God-like Gold mine that it's founders and co-creators envisioned it to be. For this we will all prove to be the benefactors.

What is it? A water slide? A garbage chute?

Do you mean a tower as part of the stadium/arena design? Or elsewhere on the site? Since the TD Place name is only supposed to apply to the stadium and arena, you will likely get people very annoyed if you put it somewhere else at Lansdowne.

I was thinking right beside the south stands. The stadium design really has no focal point, and vertical eye-candy would make the place more memorable. I imagine it would have to be close to the canal, out of sight from the Glebe side. An observation deck would make a nice all-season vantage point.

At first I thought it was incredibly ugly... then it grew a bit on me. Especially that the steel vs wood panels match almost perfectly the south stands with those wooden "veils".

It could be cool, but I wouldn't be overly sad if this didn't happen either.

Sorry to break up the TD Tower talk, but the Ottawa Fury FC tweeted out the new td place website:

Check out the 3D seating map! Pretty cool!

Also, here's what they have planned for the signage, I guess (from their gallery page):

If only Scotiabank or National Bank had bought the rights. Their logos would blend in far better with the RedBlacks.

A tower with a slide would be amazing and incredible; I whole-heartedly approve.

Sorry, but the City gave the keys to the kingdom away to OSMUG.

So I don't think they're going to give any more concern to what you think about where the logo goes, than they did to what the neighbouring residents thought about what should go in the site.

Money talks.

But for the love of God, don't ruin sleek and intelligent design. Put it along the North Side stands where they'll face Bank St. and into the site.

Their graphics are a bit off, I hate the way the "TD" in the logo block does not line up with "PLACE". Here's the way I would do it:

Now Hiring: traffic manager for Lansdowne Park
By: Mai Habib

There are new concerns around Lansdowne Park and the new TD place: traffic clogging up local streets.

The organization behind the redevelopment, the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group, is working to hire someone to make sure Lansdowne traffic isn't a complete nightmare.

In an interview with CTV Ottawa, OSEG's CEO Bernie Ashe says, "This is somebody who's going to be looking at all aspects of traffic management including looking at alternative means of getting people down to Lansdowne."

Part of the new traffic person's job will be to promote carpooling, walking, cycling and taking transit, along with dealing with problems as they arise.

Thousands of people are expected to visit the site on a daily basis and that has many area residents concerned about traffic congestion in the area.

Rush hour traffic already crawls along Bank Street now, and Ashe says keeping cars away is a priority.

OSEG hopes to have that job filled within a few weeks.

New concerns? Or just another clueless media report?

You mean they are trying to find solutions to problems? Is that allowed?

Could you please forward this to TD? The current logo looks like it was done by an amateur with a spare 30 seconds and a logo s/he cut and pasted off the website.

Notice how the "Welcome to" image on the TD Place website does not include the TD logo on the veil? Can you at least wait until that's official instead of fabricating additional cause to act like a victim?
