It serves a purpose as storage for maintenance equipment, with a crane for lifting supplies onto carts, and also has staircase access for maintenance staff without needing to enter ATC territory.

True, but that's all the way in Etobicoke; Vancouver's still at the part where we argue about 28 floors in Yorkville or Deer Park (whichever Broadway's more analogous to).

It's all go on West Broadway and Cambie. The street trees have all been removed where the hoardings are going, and No Frills has lost its awnings. There's a friend of Zepfancouver working his way along the edge of the sidewalk with a mobile coring machine mounted on a dolly, removing circular lumps of sidewalk concrete. I assume that's for the steel posts to support the hoarding.

Meanwhile at Main the rotary piling rig is already drilling on site just behind the sidewalk, which they're also working on for hoarding construction.

That block has also lost all its street trees, so the work presumably extends that far.

Multiple news sites saying "Major construction now underway" but is it really according to tougher SSP Vancouver standards? A lot of utility relocation, tree cutting, demolition, soon to be excavating, etc... all ancillary stuff.

Similar to so many other threads here when a site is demolished and a hole excavated someone chimes in, "can we change the thread title to 'under construction' now?" However, no concrete poured or concrete tunnel liner placed, yet... No thread title change warranted.

SSP keepin the bar high.

I thought the City Hall station work was up until Yukon? They were doing two weeks of geotechnical work between Alberta and Cambie starting May 20:

See the people in the second pic lined up for the #99? They got a rude surprise as the bus went right on by without stopping for them.

The new #99 stop is now about a half a block west of Cambie, just across Broadway from the entrance to London Drugs.

Hey, all that stuff means the project is actually under way and that we're well past all the feasibility work such as core drilling and geotechnical surveying. Let's call the glass half full, why don't we?
