I really wonder how much weekday foot traffic there is in these suburban malls and
whether that is enough to sustain all of these food and beverage operations.
That would also apply to Oakridge.

That should be 'suburban construction zone malls'. Don't retail / resaurants suffer when surrounded by an active construction zone? It's certainly true at Brentwood and Oakridge.

I don't understand the strategy of brentwood. The food court isn't anything revolutionary and having it tied to a literal dead mall is just not a great experience. They have started on further towers but it seems like it is a way off from being done. At least with oakridge the decision to was made to close the whole thing down to speed up the construction.

Obviously it didn't make any financial sense or else they would have done that.

“These two new locations place us strategically in two of Canada’s premier retail markets – Kitsilano and UBC – allowing us to respond effectively to the burgeoning demand from consumers and retailers.”
I want to see what else is on that list of premier retail markets if UBC is on the list.

Maybe the Wesbrook-16th Ave marketplace area?

I think a restaurant trying to survive on selling what is just a trendy food item is not a doable business plan, I've never tried the Japanese style fluffy pancakes but they never looked appealing and the only way I like pancakes is flat with butter, maple syrup and bacon.

Does this leave only the Kingsway location for Gram? are they separate franchisees? I don't think the Robson Gram ever opened despite having the windows plastered with signs that it was opening soon a few years ago. Has the Hello Kitty cafe opened yet that was expected in July?

The rest of Brentwood eating places always seem busy, the taco place often has a lineup as does Earls and Jinya. Nothing in the food court really makes me want to go up there. Small Victory finally decided to stay open later than 4 pm, when it first opened it closed so early in the afternoon now it stays open into the evening and keeps the seats near full.

I wonder why they don't do the same with their Vancouver locations?

Those locations.......are very far away from me. I guess I'll wait until there's a store within striking distance.

I guess you won't have to wait long considering it's part of Restaurant Brands International

found my old post >>

the retail seems to be leasing really well in the new rental buildings on Renfrew >> https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/2603-2655-2543-2583-renfrew-street-vancouver-rental

signs are up for the below locations at 2655 renfrew >>
A&W
Pokerito
Pizza Pizza
Quesada
Trees
Firehouse Subs (first one in Vancouver)

with all the new rentals coming in this little strip should really take off as a quick eats spot.

Hey, that's awesome news for Burnaby! A second Chipotle? Count me in for some burrito goodness in 2024! The City of Lougheed is really stepping up its restaurant game. Can't wait to have another spot to satisfy those Chipotle cravings. By the way, any hot tips on breakfast places near me? Always on the lookout for a delicious start to the day!
