I think they should just leave the railings off and make sure people know not to let children or pets outside.

Exactly. All owners, family members and their pets get issued a shock collar when they move in. They must be worn at all times in the building and if you get within a foot of the edge----zap! A much more aesthetic solution than rails, no?

...or they could bolt the balcony doors closed so they only have the appearance of a balcony.

I think its less than that still, since the floor height increases as they go up, plus a few taller Mechanical Floors and the parapet...

i know the railings aren't very pretty but it is a tower to live in. not only to watch from outside...and because of that i'm happy because balconies like these WITH railings are better than NO balconies at all...

I'm liking the paterns that are appearing on the building because of the different glass coatings being used. It's cool because of the reasoning behind it. It's not just some random pattern to make the building look 'edgy'. It's there to be functional.
