Sure, the profits may or may not remain in the local community depending on who owns the business and the franchise agreement. But all of these foreign chains employ local people, pay sales and income taxes, rent local property, etc.
Maybe you disagree, but many people would consider Krispy Kreme remarkably different from Tim Hortons or Robin's even though they sell the same-ish product - last week my mother, who was visiting us from out of town, insisted on driving one hour each way to Surrey to get Krispy Kreme even though Duffin's, Lucky's, and Cartems are all closer and better. Saying Juke is the same as Jollibee because they both sell fried chicken and Beaucoup is the same as Hazukidu because they are both bakeries is a little reductive, and tells me you don't pay attention to details and/or haven't tried these places.
