That would have looked DISGUSTING next to Grand Central Terminal. Glad we dodged such a horrendous outcome.

‘Transformative’ Skyscraper To Soar Next to World’s Biggest Railway Station

Quote:
A spokesperson for RXR, the developer behind the tower, told Newsweek: “This filing is the next step in advancing a transformative project next to Grand Central. Construction is expected to start in the coming months.”

Is it unusual that RXR says there only months away from construction and there's no anchor tenant announcement? Or is this actually somewhat standard?

We don’t always get tenant or even financing announcements before work begins. In some cases, we don’t even get renderings until after construction has begun.

Demolition isn't necessarily construction. The tenant thing may be real or it may be a rumor.

Now that 350 Park may be in limbo I really hope this one happens.

The Financial Capital of the World!

To the extent that Blackstone is not the tenant, we’ll be getting yet another lavish tower that we don’t even know about yet.

I hope that it will be on HY II.

This thing is gargantuan.

Now imagine there are 5-6 of them across the island in 2040.

The greatest city of the 20th century- and the 21st- and likely beyond.

Unfortunately sites like this are few and far between, and absurdly expensive.
I wouldn't expect projects like this to pop up like weeds. A lot of the sites that could actually support something like this (PABT, 418 11th, etc) are either not going that direction or are being taken up by something else.

Agreed, I think NY and the US are (mostly) done with supertalls and are going the route of other westernized, developed nations, maybe building the occasional 300+ meter building here and there but really focusing on profit.

I think 2WTC, if nothing gets in the way of its construction will be NY's last tallest U/C building for a while.

It's not a bad thing, we've just matured.

This is pretty obviously nonsense. There are at least a dozen or so NYC supertalls in development. Extell alone has at least four.

Most of those are pipe dreams and nowhere near construction. Can you name all 12 or so?

I'm not trying to be a downer but just giving a reality check.

There is no building higher than 2WTC that is guaranteed to happen now that Griffin may pull out of NYC and 625 Madison got a big shave.

Down the line? Maybe, hopefully.

There are a half dozen in Hudson Yards, a half dozen in Penn District, three or four on 57th Street, three or four on Park Ave, four in Times Square and multiple others. Not one is a "pipe dream". It isn't my job to keep a running list for you.

No, you're way beyond extremely negative. Clearly trolling.

1. There are multiple buildings taller than 2 WTC in development, right now. 2 WTC isn't even one of the bigger projects.

2. There is zero indication that "Griffin may pull out of NYC" and that political garbage has nothing to do with anything in this thread

3. 625 Madison never got a "shave". They went with the office option instead of residential option.

This is obviously engagement farming, and utter nonsense. There is enough information posted here, in enough threads for you to well know that it’s nonsense. Keep your focus here on 175 Park.

Griffin seems to be quite obviously using Mamdani as leverage to negotiate a lower price for Vornado to sell the development to them

Not saying none of them can ever happen just saying I'm always skeptical of these types of proposals until I see steel.
