Not sure what the straight-line distance is, but's about 27 miles from DT on the interstate.

What interested me most is that when I saw 6X so clearly peaking above everything else, I noticed that you can see the tops of several of our tall buildings that far out - for me there just wasn't enough contrast on the horizon to distinguish our skyline the past couple years until now, but it's been visible. Off topic - maybe just because it's home, but there is something very special about seeing our city increasingly peek through and over the hills when returning from the North Texas plains. The suburban sprawl in Wilco on the other hand... reminds me of DFW sprawl. Also the North Burnet skyline is also very noticeable and exploding with greater density each time I make the drive.

Also, congrats on your first grandkid!
Thanks!

I know how you feel. I have nothing to do with the growth of our skyline, but it just impresses the heck out of me. I'm always proud to say I'm from Austin. I've had many conversations when I travel eating my dinner at the hotel bar, and talking to strangers about the Austin Skyline.

Yeah, LASA ‘08 here as well. Tell Doug that Wendell said congratulations and tell Marcus I said hello, though neither of them may remember me. Isn’t Marcus building skyscrapers? I’d always looked at your username and wondered.

When the Austonian was completed, I could see it from Hamilton Pool Rd, quite a long way from downtown. I can only imagine how well this new one can be seen.

I'm a good 4.5 to 5 miles north of downtown, and it can be startling to see it from certain points in my area. It makes it seem like I'm almost downtown.

Will do.

(and Marcus is working as a physical trainer in Chicago. He did spend some time working on top of some of the biggest buildings in Chicago, setting up fiber optic cable. IT seemed to be a good gig for him while it lasted.)

I saw that this evening. You can also see The Domain skyline from out there. It was really visible tonight with the sunset.

My drone nearly decapitated me prior to running into a wall the other night, so I had to get a new one. Anyway, I took an inaugural video earlier that has some nice shots of 6X that really captures its dominance over the skyline.

It looks like the columns on top are for the parapet, so this thing is officially as tall as it gets. Also, nice videos.

Visible from I-35 north of Westinghouse in Georgetown. Domain highrises appear to the left and the tip of the Independent to the right.

Zoomed view from the Rabbit Hill ridge in south Georgetown. About 23 miles away as the crow flies. What's the farthest out you guys have spotted the building?

6X dominating the skyline in some shots. I also love One Eleven Congress. Great underappreciated piece of architecture for our skyline.
