General look should be of a place valued and patronized by the populace.

Based on your criteria for a classic main street, i would say that Bountiful fits. I am only using the area from 400 N to about 900 S, as that is the classic portion.
- Drug Store - Rite Aid
- Cafe - Granny Annie's just opened up in the old Marie Calander's building
- Bank - Wells Fargo, Zions, Deserret First, Key Bank
- Hardware or Genereal Merchandise - it doesn't really have this, although Rite Aid could be considered general merch. There used to be Bountiful Lumber but that building was recently restored into office space with retail and residential added behind and to the north
- Post Office - corner of main and center
- Library - about 800 S
- Place of Worship - Historic Bountiful Tabernacle
There is also frozen yogurt store, phili cheesesteak shop, bagel shop, indian restaurant, italian restuaranat, salons and a barber shop, numerous boutiques, antique shop, fabric store, two reception halls, used book store, plus office and residential space. There is a lot of improvement that can be done, especially getting rid of the used car dealers, but overall not to shabby. However, I wont argue that it is the ONLY historical main street in Utah as the article suggests
