^^^Speaking of that area, I don't know if anybody else noticed, but Amacon has started pre-registration for their site just south of Bordeaux, at 4455 Alaska St.

http://amacon.com/alaska/

Site was first described by Vancouvermarket way back in Dec 2018. http://www.vancouvermarket.ca/2018/1...des-164-units/

No renders on the website yet, but the project would appear to be moving forward at least. Excited to see what comes of it, as it's a visually prominent site when you come north along Willingdon.

Nice! I hope we will soon see projects east of Willingdon start moving forward as well to make for a grand entrance from south.

Thanks.
I like the caption "Actual south facing view" that shows a sweep from Metrotown to Downtown Vancouver!

Centred on the westerly view too.

Interesting rendering released for Concord Metrotown. Reminds me of the netflix series Altered Carbon.

Something like that? I believe Sears would be Phase 4.

I really hope the Concord project would get going. Not only are those towers massive, it is also the corner of Metrotown lacking badly in terms of density and skyline. These towers will be a fantastic addition to the area and bring some serious height along Kingsway corridor.

The entire project is 'Concord-Sears' project.
At least that's what it was officially known as before, while Sears were still a partner and before they sold up their entire stake to Concord when they went bankrupt in Canada.

So now it's more officially the Concord Metrotown project.

The entire site used to be owned by Sears (including the entire mall north parking lot up until the part in front of the Superstore (which is owned by Ivanhoe Cambridge) and the old Sears store in the mall).

^vanman I don't think that render is of this project; the alt text tag says "Seattle House in the Heart of Downtown Seattle", which is another project of Concord's (it also seems like it doesn't fit with the other renders of this complex, but that's just speculation).

Regardless, the location they have for the sales center is the site of the former Brentwood project center. I'm assuming the latter has sold out?

But the filename is metrotown-header-home-7bf52581d55e633347d94f0d37116572.jpg and I don't see that image on the Seattle House website. Though I guess maybe it's something to do with the Amazon spheres.

I think you'll have some time to wait. The latest Burnaby Major Developments Project for Sept lists the Master Plan as Final Adoption and that's it. There's been no movement on it that I can see.

Well looking harder comes up with something more interesting. As Burnaby doesn't like hotlinking I'll say to go to their website and do a search for 'Sears Metrotown' - the third result I found is "Rezoning Reference 18-27 Initial Report 2019.pdf" dated Oct 23 2019. From the pdf:

Quote:
Applicant: Ivanhoe Cambridge
Address: 4700 and 4800 Kingsway and a portion of 4750 Kingsway

Rezoning Reference #13-07 received Third Reading on 2019 May 22 to establish a Conceptual Master Plan, Design Guidelines and a detailed first phase of development for the former Sears site. Phase one of the Sears Master Plan will be developed in accordance with Rezoning Reference #13-07, however all subsequent phases of the Sears Masterplan, which are situated on the westerly 2.37 ha (5.9 acres) portion of the former Sears site, are proposed to be included in the subject rezoning application in order to facilitate better integration and connections between the Metropolis site and the former Sears site. When the Metropolis Master Plan receives Final Adoption, the Sears Master Plan, with the exception of Phase 1, will be superseded.

Are these new? They mention an orangerie which is what that image is.

Quote:
An orangery or orangerie was a room or a dedicated building on the grounds of fashionable residences from the 17th to the 19th centuries where orange and other fruit trees were protected during the winter, as a very large form of greenhouse or conservatory.

The tallest Concord Metrotown tower will be over 700 feet.
