Nice. Is that retail/commercial space below that I see? Also, does anyone happen to know the name of that apartment building?

Should Wells Fargo change their entire brand to match one building in Atlanta? No but they should change it in general because I do agree their logo and swatch itself is ugly.

All of this is pretty off topic to actual high rise construction in Atlanta.
Seems perfectly on topic to me.....although there is SO MUCH construction going on that we are interrupting by talking about signage on buildings.

My issue is not that the Wells Fargo logo is yellow (although I think it is ugly). My issue is that the yellow on that building looks wretched. Why not just use white? Is white signage really that damaging to their brand?

I actually thought it was a hotel going up when I interned in a building nearby this summer. That is butt ugly! LoL

At least we have Cox Enterprise's new building going up to look forward to. I feel like I saw a rendering somewhere, but I can't be certain and if I did I can't remember where. I don't remember being super impressed if it was a Cox rendering.

This is actually related to Atlanta, and is good news for the Georgia Aquarium, Marineland, and Jacksonville metro. Jim Jacoby of Jacoby Development (Atlantic Station, Ford Plant redevelopment site) sold Marineland to Georgia Aquarium for $9.1 million. Jacoby sits on the Georgia Aquarium board. I remember when Marineland competed with SeaWorld, but now it's more of a research/conservation development and isn't much of a tourist attraction.

Georgia Aquarium Buys Marineland

Looks like GSU has picked and bought a site of land on the north side of Woodruff Park to eventually build two new mid-rises for the business and law schools. Didn't they just build a new law school? Anyway, they are waiting for the state legislature to approve the funding sometime in the future for the new buildings. Looks like Tech has even more reason to go private since Tech largely relies on private funding for its new buildings and schools like GSU rely on the state. Good news, though!

guess you missed the posts on the previous page about this huh? My understanding was that both schools were to go into the Suntrust tower purchased about 3yrs ago...perhaps they have other plans for that building. And they did just open the new petite science building by the georgia state marta station, it's quite impressive. i am a student there, but haven't had the chance to get in and see it.

What the hell?

If you have somehow forgotten, this is a forum dedicated to buildings, construction, and architecture. What a building looks like seems to be a topic that is wide open for debate, critique, etc - unless you all just want meaningless adulation for any project that goes up, regardless of aesthetics.

My point is this is a construction thread. If you want to discuss things that have been built for years, there's a whole Atlanta forum for it. I know you've been around long enough to know, GTTX, and have been a valuable resource on this board since I've been on here as well.

110 acre project area for downtown TOD

The project will involve a master developer for the downtown site popularly known as “The Gulch.” The Georgia DOT met with developers yesterday to unveil its plan to find, evaluate, and eventually enter into a partnership with private developers to build what officials call a multi-modal “campus” that will serve a host of transit lines, from MARTA rail and bus to an eventual streetcar network, and even the much hoped for regional high-speed commuter rail lines.

Good info, any links to more details or a larger map?

It doesn't look like street level retail to me - it looks more like a vaguely concealed parking garage.

Ugh, more of the same I guess. I thought that the region was moving towards embracing more mixed use developments in an effort to increase walkability in it's CBDs....

Tiny bit of news but I'm desperate for any Atlanta construction.
The highrise at 10th and Juniper (I believe an elderly community) has removed the large iron fence in front of it and is doing some sort of landscape/entrance construction. Looks a lot better already; that fence really blocked off the building from 10th street and it feels a lot more open and pedestrian friendly.

This is what I'm talking about:
google street view

Now if the firestation next door would get rid of the awful chain link fence.

Don't know about construction, but look for some Atlanta pics from me soon in the photo board. I have about 4 inches of snow at my building in Midtown! Now there is some news. If it snows/sleets off and on for another 24 hours then I wouldn't be surprised for ~2 more inches and another 0.5 inch of ice. This could be interesting.

I'd say at least 4 with 5 inches in some parts downtown. Was an interesting walk to work today.
Also, they're setting up the Peter Pan tent next to world of coke. Looking pretty cool.

3 Development teams to vie for MMTS deal.

Some of Atlanta's biggest developers – Cousins Properties, Jacoby Development and H.J. Russell with The Dawson Co. -- are competing to build a mega-transit hub downtown for the Georgia Department of Transportation.
