The much bigger top grew on me as opposed to the original proposal, however, this tower will be a great addition, regardless of however the top of the tower looks.

They are planning to have a hotel on the top most floors above the offices so I expect it will be related to that - restaurant etc.

No plans for one.

The only one with plans for an observation deck to my knowledge is Delano Residences.

Also, One Bayfront Plaza has an observation deck, , if it ever gets built.

Work is now underway on Citadel’s new global headquarters at 1201 Brickell Bay Drive in Miami’s financial core, with crews beginning deep soil mixing on-site, marking the first visible step toward construction.

Deep soil mixing (or DSM) is a construction method used to strengthen the ground by blending cement with existing soil to form solid columns. This improves the site’s ability to support the tower and reduces the risk of settling, an important step given South Florida’s challenging soil conditions.

This early work comes after a delay in the project’s original timeline. Citadel had initially targeted a Q3 2025 groundbreaking, but with site activity now underway, vertical construction could begin in 2026, depending on permitting....

With no hotel it'll probably lose its supertall status, if it even gets built at all now.

Not shocked, was surprised when this came close to construction since I thought it was never gonna happen.

Weird take.

The original article states

"Citadel billionaire Ken Griffin is expanding the office footprint at his planned headquarters tower in Miami and is considering whether to take additional space for his companies following a public taunt from New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Commercial Observer has learned."

So they're increasing the amount of office square footage at the tower. At the same time they're expressing hesitation about the NYC tower.

Additionally the tower is basically under development already as foundation/soil mixing has already begun.

The only reason it wouldn't get built is if they left Miami.

Right now the conversation is if they pull out of 350 Park in NYC, so basically the opposite.

350 Park and this will both be supertalls and will both be built. If Ken Griffin believes he has leverage then they'll just find another partner for 350 Park. At least in my opinion

That could take a really long time though, seems like it's bad news either way.

Seems far fetched for a 1K+ foot pure office tower to be built in Miami but I guess never say never. The height could change though, what makes you think

I'm not sure how much of the original SF was hotel though, he may add more office but it may not be a supertall.

If they pull out of NYC maybe Miami gets a 1K office tower but NYC loses a 1.4k one.

Office levels are taller than hotel and the tower remains at 54 levels so I'd expect this to remain a supertall (it has room to grow to the max allowed height of 1,049').

About 400,000 sq feet of office is being added totaling 1.7 million sq feet, up from 1.2 million.
