Variance approval for the building that will be right next to the City TV building. Looks like it will have a pretty cool covered patio area.
So... a quarter to a third of the space is still parking lot? Brilliant

Is streetside the only "condo" and the rest are rental apartments? does anyone know?

also, i see lots of CRU and I'd love it if they are filled, but look at OV, St B, Pembina, lots lots of empty spots.

The .pdf I commented on has the first real site layout I've seen, very small at the top right of a page. There's still a whack of parking lot within phase one.

I guess there's room for phases 4, 5 and 6?

Add Waterfront/East Exchange to that list. The Pharmacy on Waterfront moved to St. B, 98 Market's been empty for the decade, Hair Co. left and nothings filled it's space, and the CRU's under The Bend are still bare

There is some parking along the rail line. Accessed from Forks Market Road. Along with whatever the box car alley thing will be. Other than that its courtyards and public pedestrian type space.

There is a required setback, no-build zone from the rail line. What you see there is something called Boxcar Alley, which is intended to be more temporary market space, possibly with shipping containers. There will be parking along the high line, for sure, but not very much.

I see. So, the parking at the northern edge of phase 1 is currently a street of sorts between parking lots. And then boxcar alley is a different parking lot for shops in the back of Union Station. But what's currently the phase 1 parking lot will be fully developed. I don't like it but I accept it. I guess in a thousand years when rail relocation finally happens (centuries after the end of the rail line's useful life; most goods will be moved by teleportation anyway), they can finally build something there. Car brains from Linden Woods will swear they'll never go to the Forks again (6 kids and their ever-present hockey bags still can't fit in a teleporter).

This is an aside, and I may be remembering wrong, but didn't most people in Lac Magentique die in a bar? It's funny that the knee-jerk regulations that sprang therefrom have said that dying a fiery death in a bar is basically ok, but you can't do the same in your own home. Stay outa my bedroom, guvment

Box Car Alley shown here seems to be a lot less than what other renders show. Pretty crappy to be honest..

https://www.railsideattheforks.com/uploads/timelines/full-concept-plan.pdf

This is somewhat older now. But it talks about the parking situation. +- 75 parking stalls along the high line in phase 1. It is also emergency access route along that side. Building code requires it, just like a fire route in mall parking lots or other places.

Folks, it’s happening. Real honest to god construction.

I know they brought in some equipment for a sod turning a few weeks ago, but things had been sitting idle since. I walk by there most days and yesterday was the first time there was any real action on site.
