The good news just keeps rolling in for Dallas and the Dallas area!





The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics just announced year-over-year job growth numbers as seen in the graphic above.

The Dallas area continues to be number one in Texas job growth and is number two in the nation after Los Angeles.

The Dallas area added almost 93,000 jobs in that timeframe, a 3% increase.

The Houston area added 80,000 jobs, a 2.9% increase, placing second in Texas and fourth nationally.

"...plans include two residential towers -- one 70 stories and the other 60 stories -- totaling 1,300 condo homes with a deep below-ground parking garage totaling enough spaces for 1,855 cars. The towers would include ground floor retail for a grocery store or other retail space."

Wow, so this would have to be taller than the Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas, which is 1,149 feet. At 70 stories, this would need to have extremely high ceilings or a spire to reach that height (the Chase tower in Houston is 1,002 feet with 75 floors, and it is an office building). Hopefully they choose this proposal so it puts pressure on developers to build a new supertall in Houston!

Sitting just north of Azure, Bleu Ciel will be 400' tall, very translucent, and an upgraded version of Azure. (not sure how that's even possible)

70 stories won't necessarily be a guaranteed supertall (though it could be)

but any new tall buildings are welcome in Texas!

I hope an actual supertall does get built though sometime soon, at the rate Houston and Dallas are growing, it can't be long... even Austin maybe

Or it has a very tall spire (like the supertall CITC in Philly).

Fantastic news though, I want Dallas to get a supertall and especially one that continues it's light theme.

Very true, though like other posters have said, if the "tallest west of the Mississippi" thing is accurate, then it seems like it would have to be a supertall.

Assuming they happen, one thing that excites me is the position of these towers. They would essentially be in the center of the downtown skyline, rather than on the edges like BOA or that potential Perot "signature" tower. It would create a very nice aesthetic and possibly also redirect some of the development momentum back towards the south.

I agree that this would be a perfect spot for a new supertall in Dallas. Does anyone know if there are any FAA height restrictions for this site? Hopefully not since this would be great for downtown.

I'm a little skeptical of them claiming a 70 story condo tower will be the "tallest concrete structure west of the Mississippi river." The Legacy at Millennium Park is a 73 story condo tower in Chicago and it's only 822 feet, so this tower would have to have a really tall antenna to be a super-tall.

The CITC in Philly will only be 59 floors but 1,120 feet because of the spire.

those towers are not going to happen unless they are offering the best priced condos in the Dallas market to date. This site will remain parking for decades to come.

Rae we missing something..."the tallest CONCRETE structure..."? I don't know, but I think we are talking apples and oranges. A "concrete structure" is like the Reunion Tower, not Bank of America Tower. While I am excited about this as everyone is, let's not go ape-shit about it being a "supertall".

Yes, but I believe CITC is an office tower, not residential. Residential towers are usually much smaller than office towers with the same number of floors.
