The new cars were still there at lunch as well.I wonder if that train will be used in rush hour this afternoon because nor mally the train parked there is slotted in during the PM Peak.

May 22nd at the earliest it says. Surrey leader seems to always be up to date with the transit news.

sorry, this is a bit random. but i need to know the order the city prioritizes transportation modes, QUICK!! i just need someone to comfirm the order: pedestrians, bicycles, transit, private automobiles, ...

i think someone recently mentioned it before, but i cant find it.

I remember this, I think. Yes, I believe that's the order. Whatever. The auto is still king. They've got a long way to go. Not sure how they could improve on the pedestrian aspect. I mean, we've got sidewalks already. Perhaps widen sidewalks and/or have some pedestrian only streets?

Did someone already mention the light-up maps on the new MKIIs? Those pictures are the first I've seen of them. Reminds me of London! (or was it Paris... or both)

The buzzer has a in-depth article on the new Skytrain Mark II 1300 and 1400 series car interiors. Some highlights

• 6 less seats (single one one side and double on the other)
• Route map with which lights up for stations
• 4 CCTV cameras, not monitored live (blackbox so to speak)
• new vinyl seat covers (same as new buses)
• floor has more grip
• horizontel grab bars
• door lights for when doors are opening/closing (the hard of hearing will really appreciate this feature)
• Wider articulated joint to prevent people from falling inbetween train cars

I wonder how easily the electronic maps can be updated to include new features (i.e. Evergreen Line). Anyone know how other systems deal with this issue when they have network expansion?

And why aren't they showing the Canada Line? I know the trains wont run on that line, but it does make sense to show it as being there.

I suspect that Canada Line will just appear as an unlit line on the map, so no issue there.
They would probably have to reonfigure the LEDs for the Evergreen Line for trains would run on that route.

Wait, new 1300 and 1400 series...there's two new series we are getting? What's the difference?

Jhenifer over at the Buzzer blog says that the lit system maps are not complete, the final map will show the connection to the Canada Line at Waterfront Station.

She also says the maps are overlays with LED lights under - so not really electronic.

I guess this answers the quesiton how easy is it to add more lines, I assume the LEDs can be rearranged and added or subtracted, and a new overlay created.
