TV Installation is at 29th Avenue STN now. TVs at Commercial Drive are now on.

Stadium now has three(doubled up) info lcd TVs up and running, these are not the constant advertising ones that are located on the platform level, these are located at each of the three entrances and appear to only be broadcasting system info.

Lougheed has TVs now too

and I don't understand why they installed them where they did

they are at the entrance off austin so if you're sitting in your car at the red light they are very informative - they are useless to users of the station - its not a waiting area

when i drove past the SCreens today they were flashing

SKYTRAIN ALERT

Yeah I saw that huge LCD screen at the Austin (west) entrance too...it's a big tv but nobody stands there to look at skytrain etiquette information (it doesnt show the global news headlines or weather stuff).

They should have put it up 1 level where the mall walkway is and at eye level so people dont have to strain their necks

if they ever take the tv down i dont mind taking it home lol

Once all the platform screens are installed in all 30 + stations probably by July
they will give transit information.

Unfortunately, no. Most of Translink's advertising program is operated by Lamar, after a $100-million contract 5 or 6 years ago. That's the company that's doing all these LCD installations I believe....as well as all those moving ad panels at the stations AND the LCD screens on the sides of the buses.

InTransitBC, or ProTransBC rather, would do their own thing.

I e mailed translink a couple of months ago on this subject and the response was that these screens would give transit information..

It keeps the area numbering system intact

e.g.

1-99 - Vancouver (I know, 97 b-line is wrong)
100-199 - Burnaby, New West, Tri-cities
200-299 - North Shore (250-259 West Van)
300-399 - Surrey (350-359 White Rock)
400-499 - Richmond
500-599 - Langley
600-699 - South Delta
700-799 - Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows

May 22nd at the earliest it says. Surrey leader seems to always be up to date with the transit news.

And they are stop using the Cxx numbering now as #531 is actually a community shuttle route. I wonder if they will renumber the existing community shuttle routes...

A set of the new mkII cars is parked on the third rail at Stadium station this morning, they look good but not as good as the original pics we've seen.

Finally, it seems like a long time ago when they arrived and appeared ready to roll.

Get them on the track before May 12th.
