Well turns out their marketing people don't know the location of the development hah.

King & James? Main is even a slight stretch, but at least that's believable. Are they LeBron fans?

This may only be kitty-corner but I imagine an underground stream could be a very localized issue that presents some mitigation challenges for specific sites. Doesn't make them insurmountable though.

But I think the Connolly delays are really something other than that. I wonder if Hue just doesn't place much importance on this, or that they're actually hoping to flip the site for a profit without the rigmarole of incorporating the church frontage. Perhaps they're not on solid financial footing.

I mean even LiUNA really struggled with groundwater issues at Cobalt, we all saw how ridiculously long it took them to get started on actual forming of the underground garage there. It's clearly an actual thing in Hamilton.

That said, I agree that the Connolly is just an incompetent developer who doesn't know enough about what they are doing and/or doesn't have adequate access to capital to make it happen.

Look at them go! How far down is this compared to the Cobalt buildings?

Out of all the developments in the downtown, this is the one i'm probably most excited about. The shear size of it and the number of residents it brings will really inject some life into James South. It's height is really going to change the skyline too.

Love this one as well. Done without much fanfare in an area that has not see new construction since the YMCA built its addition in late 70s. Hopefully pushes along others to develop their surface lots and or rubble piles (looking at Hue kid)

Blows my mind that the city rejected the proposed development at 100 James South.

There was never an application to reject! Don't make stuff up like that.

Those renderings were found online, but the landowner has never made an actual application to the City as far as I know.

Thought I read somewhere that it was rejected based on it's height.

Perhaps they had a pre-application consultation where the city requested them to reduce the height, but that's hardly a "rejection". The city asks for a lot of things that don't end up happening. Besides, at 30 storeys, it would likely have largely complied with the escarpment height limits.. I doubt that would have been a major sticking point if it actually reached a full application, particularly since the City has now approved 34 storeys across the street.

They never made a full application for the city to review, and as a result it was never "approved" or "rejected" in any form. I suspect it was barely ever anything more than the back-of-the-napkin rendering that is shown above.

Must have been mixing it up with another project then

Would be nice to see something like that there. Imagine that, The Connolly and 75 James all built. Would totally change the feel of that area.
