About the warmer toned galass. Yes, totally. Whether it remains a lighter, brighter, more reflective version of the color of either the grey upper building, or the pink downstairs base.
I think an extra dose of color and brightness would not be out of place here.

I was informed there bringing in a specialist however it’s very tricky, intricate work due to the factors surrounding it.... fingers crossed ....

There has been a lot of activity, in between movie and TV shoots, in the building over the past few years since the Post Office moved out. It doesn't seem to have been airtight sealed, but there have been tarps used to isolate areas, so it's quite possible it has already been removed.

No matter how hard I try, I just can't get in to the design of the additional office space. Don't get me wrong, matching the design elements of the original post office is no easy task, but I really think they didn't come close to making this look cohesive.

apparently it will be completed in mid 2023 with about 1.17 million sqft of office. amazon taking 35% of it.

i hope they do a good job with it.

I agree with you. Frankly, although it was perhaps too awkward or difficult to execute, I preferred the original design with the sloping angular buildings. To each his own, I guess.

I'm fairly certain Amazon has already committed to the entire first building now, so 50%.

Of course rumours circle that they are just waiting to their next fiscal year to announce their occupancy of the second tower.

It should have been either an extremely minimalist and simple glass box/prism above the heritage part, or something much weightier than what they've shown. The delicate inverted corners of the tower floorplates makes no sense sitting on the giant rectangle of a podium.

I like the current version better than the stepped/setback version of 3 towers that included residential.

That said, I think they are going overboard with the lattice grid in the current design
- to the extent that it is now overpowering the original gridded windows on the heritage structure.

Note how the panes of vision glass are much shorter on the current version versus the floor-to-ceiling in the intermediate version?

I liked the intermediate design posted by Changing City better - see middle image below.

That's massive. What kind of sf do they have now? Will this consolidate a few spaces in the city?

I have been wondering if since Amazon will be giving all it's workers in the US a $15/h minimum wage that they will be moving more operations to Canada where that does not apply to simply offset the cost of the wage increase...

Essentially none of the employees in these towers will be making less than $15 an hour so that won't factor into the decision to expand in Vancouver. Cost is a factor, but its more a developer who makes $160k USD in San Fran or Seattle will make $130k CAD in Vancouver. Big savings.

As for consolidation, there will be a bit into the Post, but mostly the WeWork floors. the bulk of this is pure growth.

I wasn't clear, I meant in the Canadian warehouse facilities moreso for the low income earners as i'm sure they can always use more warehouse space. Possibly move more facilities to Mexico as well to serve south-west states.
