Hey SolarWind ... love the photos, but I find it interesting that you so rarely comment on what you shoot.

That's not a complaint, I'm just wondering ... are you shooting everything you can find, or just stuff you like?

During lunchtime, I shoot stuff I can get to by walking.

Yeah SW is awesome, so are mnay other of our resident photopgraphers.....I cannot wait I get my 10 Mbit internet connection Friday...I have only had dial up until now.....sweet

600 N. Fairbanks is indeed sick. One of the best green glass facades I've seen. What's the steel framed building under construction in the background of the 353 N. Clark pictures?

......THe "site prep" section on page 1 is really getting thin ! If you subtract Mandarin (which should probably be back in "proposed") there are only 4 "over 500 feet" left.......I think the real estate slump is really starting to hit. It looks like the current crop of "under construction" is going to get built out then there is going to be a multi-year gap......

BlackRock Partners With IBT on $240M Project

CHICAGO-IBT Group LLC, based here, is partnering with BlackRock, headquartered in New York City, on a nearly 500,000-sf residential and retail development in the West Loop. West Loop Promenade will be located on four acres bordered by Aberdeen Street to the east, Van Buren Street to the south and Jackson Street to the north, says Gary Pachucki, president and founder of IBT Group. Pachucki would not disclose the amount of the partnership but said that BlackRock will be “a significant capital partner” for the $240-million project.

All I have seen from Soalr are pictures of sky scrapers ... oddly appropriate.

I agree with you in that new buildings will go U/C at a slower pace, in the near future. I'm sure that 2008 will have a decent amount less construction starts than in 2007 (although the number of construction starts in 2007 is extremely high, even after just 7 months!).

However, I do think that there are still some buildings on the "proposed" list that aren't too far off from from being U/C. I would guess that a decent amount (but certainly not all) of these buildings will go U/C by the end of 2007:

Sono I (from what I've read, it may be U/C any day now, if it is not already U/C)
Ritz Carlton
680 North Rush
215 West Washington
200 West Lake
Park 1000
Glashaus
Catalyst
Walton on the Park towers
1349 South Wabash
565 Quincy (the salesperson said that demo on the existing building has already begun)
The Avalon (the salesperson said that they have already begun gutting the lofts portion of the development)
Any other proposed buildings far along in the process that I am not aware of??

Also, X/O WOULD have been on this list if it weren't for Fioretti. And 200 North Riverside - while it may not start construction for awhile - looks like it should be a definite go.

Pretty much, I while I agree there will be a slow-down in new buildings going U/C, I don't think it will be an all-out "gap" either.

Unlikely....the first floor retail tenants (such as Hanig's) are relocating over the next couple weeks because the building is about to be demo'd.

That's one hell of a schedule. They've got about 4 months to do caisons and foundation work, one year for 53 floors, and 3 months for interiors/finishing work.

Is that as fast as they built Streeter I? I wasn't paying attention in '05. But, um, they'd better get crackin'...
