omg give me that mid-size city skyline at the Domain!! 425' ain't nothing to sneeze at.

Since I'm Mr. Pointy, it would be really cool to eventually see a pointed tower as the tallest uptown...or a spire

These look like they will match well with the Bowen, which for all its squatiness I don't mind. Handsome but not memorable - the Domain skyline will continue to look drab and generic. Hoping for something with height and visual interest that could serve as a focal point and define it as a skyline, vs. a collection of office buildings off a Texas highway.

Tower 2 at 425' is about twice the height of Bowen, which is nuts for that area. Very cool to see!

Nice. I can already see the Domain from a few places around South Austin - up to 17 miles away, but this is going to push that even more. These look decent, too, and I'm wondering if they'll light those crowns.

To Kevin's point, the Domain area will become significantly more prominent from I-35. Right now, you just see a few things off to the west when going southbound, but that'll make it stand out a lot more. Pun only slightly intended.

Of course, now that there's a plan to break '400, I want everything to break '400.

Didn't the Uptown/Broadmoor plan have at least one 400 footer planned?

Currently it doesn't have the zoning for it. The current TOD-Gateway is limited to 360' (see back up the thread a few).

The tallest tower proposal at UptownATX/Broadmoor is the 398' Block L office tower. But the site plan still hasn't been approved after more than three years. It's obviously on pause if not cancelled.

Yah, I think this is what I was remembering.

You bring up a good point about Uptown — it’ll be interesting to see what they decide to do now. Is it a large enough project with a long enough tail that it can survive the commercial space downturn? Or do they pivot to more housing?

Do you think it is a coincidence that Council brought forward a resolution to increase the height of the TOD Gateway zone commensurate with CMU Gateway?

In Austin at least, I believe the predictions of an elongated commercial space downturn are being greatly exaggerated. Anecdotally, since the turn of the new year, I see a LOT more people out and about downtown at lunchtime during the week. I realize that's not hard numbers/evidence, but the difference is definitely noticeable when compared to just a couple months ago.

Sure, some companies may stay permanently remote. But a not insignificant number of companies are now requiring employees to return to the office at least a few days a week, if not full time.

Twin Residential Tower Plan Would Break the Domain’s Height Record

https://austin.towers.net/twin-resid...-height-record

Quote:
Hot on the heels of recent zoning changes allowing taller and denser construction in the North Burnet / Gateway planning area of North Austin, a proposal for twin residential towers in the South End District of the Domain by real estate firm Stonelake Capital Partners is now on track to set a new record for height in the region, according to recent city permits and industry sources familiar with the project.
