Exactly! That rendering does not do justice to a terra cotta facade.

Well somebody say something! LOL

I bought the new 1.7 oz Gucci cologne at Phipps last week - and i love it! - hey it's better news than NO news, lol.

I got like 100 pictures from Buckhead, Midtown, & Vinings including new townhomes, homes & even the forgotten ABERDEEN condo building that's under construction - and i didnt even know till i SAW it last week.

So i'll post them as soon as i get them developed on a cd.

It is acceptable for this board to be quiet for a few days. I don't think any of us are sitting on the edge of our seats hitting reload every 30 seconds.

Anyway, here is some good business news for the area:

Delta 747 to make Atlanta debut on Honolulu route

Atlanta Business Chronicle - by J. Scott Trubey Staff Writer

Delta Air Lines Inc. will debut in Atlanta a Boeing 747-400 jet in Delta colors April 2.

The first flight of a Boeing 747 jumbo jet in Delta livery since 1977 will depart for Honolulu at 10:15 a.m. April 2.

Atlanta-based Delta (NYSE: DAL) has also said starting May 4 it will use Boeing 747-400 aircraft for some flights between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Tokyo’s Narita Airport.

Delta obtained 16 Boeing 747-400s in last October’s acquisition of Northwest Airlines Corp, according to a regulatory filing.

And a bit more good news:

Carter’s ‘Streets’ still on course, despite economy
Atlanta Business Chronicle - by Douglas Sams

Some veterans of local commercial real estate call The Streets of Buckhead the most talked-about project in the city.

Any change in its progress creates a buzz.

That was the case recently when vandals struck the fence surrounding the project, forcing developer Ben Carter Properties LLC to take down the banners announcing retailers opening next year. The fence was redone without the advertisements, for now, prompting some to wonder whether that meant the stores weren’t opening next year as planned.

“We got a lot of calls,” says Ben Carter. “It had nothing to do with our retailers.”

Awesome about the 2 747-400 flights. Will be fantastic to see them here at E concourse(the only gates aligned for 747s plus will be where the tokyo 747 will leave from anyway). Also keep an eye out everyone for the Delta SKYTEAM logo jet it is stunning.
I am excited about streets of Buckhead, I think it adds something to the city and glad to see they don't have problems like some were saying.

Good news about Streets of Buckhead... not sure how much of it I believe though. It would be quite the eyesore if he just left it a jumble of red-clay and half built, concrete structures.

They have the east side of the 14th St bridge up and have dug a lot of dirt away getting ready to push the retaining wall back. That's exciting that this project is nearing completion, I haven't driven down 14th in almost a year. Hopefully the SB 10th street exit will be ready sooner rather than later. Then we'll have those parcels by One Atlantic ready to go for the next business cycle.

I hope that wasn't too sarchastic! I think it's probable that NYClame1250 doesn't honestly hold these positions. I bet he's a bored liberal that just enjoys playing devil's advocate. Thanks for the directions to ignore Cabasse!

I am wanting to know this also. What are they building next to Grady Hospital? It looks to be about 10 stories high or more.

Wow, you have a little too much time on your hands.

Has anyone noticed that the name of Jacoby's airport development is named... Aerotropolis Atlanta?? Not sure if I like the sound of this. Im sure it will be shortened in common usage to Aerotropolis.

It's good to see that we made it through an April Fools day without a huge fake announcement about any upcoming proposed projects to get everybodies hopes up !!! I noticed another big article in the ABC about the Downtown " Green Line " development. Are all those taller buildings in the background actual proposed projects or just visionary buildings just to show how the area can develop if someone built buildings in that area in the far future ? They look to be very big... around 700 ft or so due to the scale by being in close proximity of Centennial Tower.

Yes. It is going to be the new science building at GSU and should be ready for business by spring semester 2010. It will be called the Parker H. Petit Science Center or something of that nature.

Decatur St. Streetscape

I'm glad this is finally happening. This stretch really needs it.

Quote:
This Thursday (April 2) construction will begin on Decatur Street that will
signal the beginning of an important street improvement project to the
Georgia State University campus. The focus of this construction project is
to promote and improve pedestrian movement along Decatur Street by
increasing sidewalk widths, improving intersection crossings, adding
planters and trees, and reducing much of the roadway as it crosses the
campus to single lanes going east and west.

This construction project, which will be done in phases, is expected to be
completed by the end of this September. During the first phase (A, B, C,
and D on the plan) all work will be confined to the north side (westbound
lanes) of the street. This first phase will progress one block at a time
starting at the intersection of Peachtree Street and Decatur and continuing
to the Jesse Hill Jr. Drive intersection. The second phase of the project will
include the south side (eastbound lanes) of the street. Entrances to
parking decks along Decatur Street will remain open.

Announcements and updates of construction start and end dates will be
posted on www.gsu.edu/decaturst. On this Web site you will find the
construction map that designates the sections of Phase One and any
pertinent detour information.
